Not everyone was happy with the announcements that were made today during the Nintendo Digital Event and it seems as though Nintendo is listening. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has tweeted that he is aware of the dissatisfaction from Nintendo fans and promises that they will work better next year to meet gamers expectations.

You know what I think? I think that he said that he understands things far too many times, but never did anything about it.
I don’t think it’s entirely Iwata fault for certain things, but rather the executives who have the stubborn Japanese mindset.

I don’t feel “betrayed”, just underwhelmed. I understand that this is a transitional year for Nintendo, but after last year’s massive megaton after megaton, I was kinda expecting something more. Even the production aspects of this year’s stream were… flat.
first betrayal this year was the exclusion of the standard New3DS for NA and now this. Big letdown. maybe they just keep the big games in development for the next NX system as to start off on the right foot and make lots of sales and with that garner lots of important 3rd party support. at least I hope so.

I wouldn’t make that call *just* yet. Other M was total ass because of the story and Samus’ portrayal, and the gameplay and mechanics didn’t help.
This game doesn’t even HAVE a story yet- who even knows if it will.
Though I’ll say this: when intergalactic soccer is the focus, it should NOT be considered a Metroid game.
It’s not completely ass and yes the poorly written story is what ultimately killed Other M and lack of control options.

IF, they want to ‘change’ Metroid…fine. Don’t give it the prestigious”Prime” label to make it look better. Call it what it is, “Metroid Land” or “Metroid Party ” at least that would be honest.
Those of us that played and loved the Prime series don’t like being manipulated. If they took the Metroid DS game, “Hunters” and called it a “Prime” game, that would be far more legit than…whatever this is. Maybe it turns out fun? A Prime game, it is not.
People knocked Windwaker like this when it first came out. I think I will reserve judgement until I get to play it cause it looks kinda fun and it by the guys who did Luigi’s Mansion.
That’s because of the art style change which they accepted anyway. This one is a completely different case and doesn’t even look like Metroid or Prime series at all. This is yet another insulting slap in the face towards the superior Prime Trilogy series Retro has busted they ass over 7 years to deliver and Nintendo once again fucking tarnished Metroid which could’ve been their last saving grace for Wii U if it were done differently and by Retro once again. But nope. They fucking dropped a bomb and could be their final mistake that will cost them their remaining hardcore fans.

The Wii sold like crazy, so what did they do? Used “Wii” in the title of their new console… Nice try Nintendo, but guess what? People didn’t want a Wii after you let it die a long death, so putting “Wii” in the name of WiiU actually bit them in the ass, and deservedly so. It retail, Marketing is critical. I guarentee you the WiiU would have had SOME increased success if it hadn’t started off being branded “wii” aka, “underpowered.”
They’re at it again. The “Prime” series is loved by Metroid fans, and I believe rivals any Halo game to date. So Nintendo is making a game, that looks nothing like a Prime game, will no doubt out some references here and there to legitamize their claim to calling it Prime, but in fact, is not even close to a Prime game.
It’s insulting. A real Metroid prime game would have been gorgeous, using the latest tech, AKA, NEW 3DS.
Yes. Fans would have been upset it was only for the N3DS, but hardcore metroid fans would understand… It’s a Prime game. It has to look and play to meet up to it’s past installments. It even would have shifted more gamers to the N3DS, where as before, they wouldn’t have converted.
Sound like a fairytale? This is what should have happened. God only knows why it didn’t.

I am more of an “Xbot”, as the Nintendrones like to call it, and even I can say that this sorry excuse for a Metroid Prime game is a slap in the face to the fans of the series.
When I purchased my 3DS back during release, I envisioned what a new handheld Metroid Prime might do to surpass Metroid Prime: Hunters. What I envisioned was great. A decent campaign, an improved multiplayer with more players and new maps and game modes, and incredible graphics that push the system-Like it’s predecessors. Instead, we get this terrible-looking (visually) game that hardly resembles Metroid: Prime at all. It lacks a single player campaign, and looks overall like a children’s IOS/Android shooter with a sports mode tacked onto it. If I wanna play soccer in an FPS I’ll forge it in Halo, I don’t want it in Prime! Especially when there are far more important features missing!

I’m a big fan of each of the big 3, however I do agree that Microsoft had the best overall presentation. Sony came very close. Especially that reveal of the Final Fantasy 7 remake, and Uncharted! I really wish I could say the same for Nintendo, I was seriously excited, and let down big-time.
Yeah that’s why I gave Microsoft an A- and Sony a B+. Microsoft got the better grade due to their level of entertainment, exclusives, Holo-Lens looking on point, as well as backwards compatibility. Forgot to mention allowing PC mods for Fallout 4 on Xbox One. Sony’s was still pretty good and I liked all the nice surprises that came along with it even if they weren’t exclusives. Nintendo just bombed though. I give them C- at most for the Digital Event. It was the worst E3 showing I have ever seen from them. Plus Nintendo just recently screwed me out of $25. As a consumer, I’m not so sure I want to buy from them anymore. I don’t trust them. I can tell they are already abandoning ship for Wii U and 3DS to makeway for NX. The problem is the Wii U hasn’t even been out for 3 years yet. Nintendo has really gone downhill……
Nintendo at E3 this year was terrible. I was severely dissapointed at the lack of games and new reveals! It was all stuff we had known or seen before! What was new was hardly exciting either. It’s obvious they want to push Wii U out of the way, just like you said. The Wii U really is the next Dreamcast. It’s a shame, really. But I think it’s needed to push Nintendo in the right direction (I hope)

Splatoon is amazing, i’ve been playing that game so much. They could have at least released a map during E3. Something. I don’t think they take E3 as serious as the others in terms of reveals. Maybe that’s why the games are such high quality but in the meantime we are left with very little to play or be excited about. I guess that’s why 3rd parties would be beneficial to the system
Not that it matters. This year is their final nail for sure. Wii U is abandoned and already replaced since they mentioned NX, Metroid is fucked, Animal Crossing is shit, Star Fox looks stale, and there’s no other good games to look forward to until 2016. 2015 E3 is an epic failure.

True. Everything has its shortcomings, consoles can be much more convenient in that aspect.
Sometimes it is real bitch, I won’t lie. Drivers conflicting, same with programs, and it’s even worse when a component fails if you have a bunch of crap in your PC. It takes forever to narrow down the problem when you have to remove part by part. Upgrades at times, can be a real pain as well.
I’m just used to it, since I do everything on a PC and have done so for as long as I can remember. Although I don’t expect others who don’t have such a long history with PC’s and building them, to have the same level of tolerance as I do.
I’ve already turned on Mr Please Understand. At this point, I, hate to say this, would not shed a single tear if he suddenly keeled over dead. :/ It’s a horrible thing to think, I know, but it just slithers into my head like a bad habit.

Nintendo’s supporters don’t know how to earn? Really? Many people bought the WiiU very early on, and they’re STILL waiting for games, while still supporting Nintendo, even though allmighty Nintendo doesn’t really give anyone the impression of caring about their supporters in the least. Instead, they keep on screwing with the people who keep them alive, may it be with intentionally understocked amiibo, forcing their oh-so-valuable supporters to waste ridiculous amounts of money on scalpers, or the lack of software people have been waiting for literally for years. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely can’t stand fanboys, Nintendo’s fanboys in particular, and I’ve been drifting away from Nintendo myself in the past couple years, but to say that Nintendo’s supporters still have to “earn” a better presentation than the pile of trash they have given people today, is just not true.

Really Nintendo has never done well with events. And I guess the Smash content last Sunday was some of the best stuff. Star Fox looks interesting, like it’s remaking Star Fox 2. And nice that Fire Emblem now has an international name (though personally I preferred If as the name, maybe Fates will warm on me) but really anything else was kinda meh. I guess anything interesting will be announced later in the year… Or next year… Or never.

Its sad to realize that a company like Rare managed to make me more excited with their 30th anniversary bundle than Nintendo did at their digital event, i will follow the suit soon if Nintendo doesnt do anything dramatic to change their casual chasing course (for christ sake they are turning Metroid/Zelda into casual party games). I know it’s kind of messed up, but I’ve been waiting for this. The possible push to make Nintendo change the ways they put out the image of their company. Nintendo can easily cater to younger audience’s, while also giving the older fan’s the games and treatment thats deserved. But for whatever reason, they fail to commit to a real change.
It’s sad to say, but maybe Nintendo should take a break from the console market until it gets a system down. I don’t own a wii u, but from what I read the online isn’t the best in terms of reliability (if that’s not correct, please tell me), the voice chat, the lack of games that would indeed help sell systems, the almost need for a gimmick or some “revolutionary” way to control your character. I love contollers for one major reason, they’ve worked for years.
You can get them for $200 now. For the games out, and for my income, it’s def worth $200. There ARE a few fun games on it. If you are a multi plat gamer though…you may want to wait for it to come down to $150. ;D

Nintendo got clouded so much of the success with casuals at the Wii years that they are now chasing them into mobiles and turning our beloved HC Nintendo games Metroid/Zelda into party focused casual games.
Sequels are never as good as the originals.

I believe they were well aware what a disappointing event this was going to be. They are probably putting alot of AAA games on hold to give the “NX” the launch it so desperately needs (which is probably the best move at this point).
Not to keep the fans completely left out they released a half assed star fox, a half assed animal crossing, a half assed mario tennis + some half assed 3DS spinoffs which backfired completely, but will keep some fans kind of happy.
I hope for everyone’s sake that the NX launch lineup next year will be fucking EPIC.

I think they have a bigger problem than holding the big games for NX. What if, and there will be, VR -> owns everything. If VR are the future, and people loves it. What then Nintendo?
I see people saying Nintendo is holding off AAA for the NX. That may not do any good. The NX may launch with some good games, but after TWO failed consoles in a row (not talking financially), the trust is probably gone. The NX probably won’t have many early adopters. Most people are probably going to play the waiting game and see where the NX is after 6 months to a year. And in those 6 months or so, the sales for NX will be bad, and Nintendo will not know what to do. I’m not saying this will happen, but it is a possibility. I’m kind of nervous that the NX could actually be the last Nintendo home console because of that scenario. But if it is, it will be Nintendo’s own stupidity that caused it, and they will get what they deserved. They need to stop fucking around and get AAA game after AAA game into development and get third party support back. And I mean quick. I don’t trust Nintendo myself, although I am still a fan. I’m sure I am far from alone in this sentiment.
Yeah all im wondering at this point is, who the fuck is really gonna bother with NX after dealing with the shit support from Nintendo during WiiU years. Im sure i wont be there at day1 like you said its gonna be a waiting for many to see how the NX turns out (will it have 3rd parties, will Nintendo give it best they got etc.).
he always apologies but does not do anything to correct it. If he was sincere he would have done something about 3rd party studio support on wii u (i.e. secure exclusive), he would have make sure we have at least one game per month not 14 games between September to December of each years…. and have a proper marketing plan to advertise the wii U correctly. There are things Nintendo needs to improve and one of them is to think globally not just japan and US….
The biggest flaws with this E3 was the announcement of shit games outweighing the good ones. Nintendo does a great job PRESENTING their conference but I honestly think they’re spending way too much time making things look nice rather than scheduling up games and releases to present for E3.
I don’t usually judge their press conferences, I usually like them all, but this one was shit.
If you really want to make it better, Look at your previous E3 events of which were really great and take notes. Most importantly, make sure you have games WORTH announcing, Not fucking Skylanders and an animal crossing Mario Party rip off, those would be better left in a direct or a twitter announcement or some shit.
If they know what their fans like and they listen us, why the fuck do they not do anything about it?
I don’t care about the event, I only care about the content. Nothing new was announced that blew my socks off. I’m happy to see Star Fox is incoming, but why nothing new that is going to shake things up? Mario Tennis? Seriously?

I’m glad that at least they’re acknowledging that fans are NOT happy. The fact that Nintendo could let this happen is a serious problem. They have to know that the 10 million people who own a Wii U are their REAL fans, and that we want REAL Nintendo games that are targeted at US. There is a difference between games that awaken our inner child, and games that are meant for our toddlers.
If they turn the Wii U into their Saturn by backing out on this early. They had better be prepared for their fanbase to turn the NX into their Dreamcast by jumping ship. The NX might have a great library by holding back games meant for Wii U owners, but that didn’t help Sega in the least when their biggest fans left them hanging after getting burned on an aborted Saturn.
TRUST is key in this game, Ninty, and you’re LOSING OURS.
Sadly, I think it’s too late for the Wii U to bounce back, even if they DO start listening to the fans. Maybe they’ll get the NX right.

From the moment this digital event began, I started going “meh” the whole time. Nothing excited me whatsoever. Nothing like LAST E3. Nintendo stole the show last year.

I am shocked. I grew up as a lifelong Nintendo fan… Have been all my life. Nintendo is just out of touch with their fans on a level that I can’t see them recovering from. It’s hard to say why, but their mindset is just different. We say we want a Mario, Zelda, Metroid and Animal Crossing. They give us Mario Tennis, Animal Crossing Party, Metroid Prime Federation and Zelda Triforce or whatever their names are, and expect us to be happy. They are milking the names to get sales…. it’s almost like they are trying to clear their name and distant themselves from the hardcore games we grew up with to casual garbage… maybe for the transition to mobile devices. I don’t know what it is, but this company needs new management. Microsoft blew the roof off the place because the guy who runs it IS A FAN WHO KNOWS WHAT THE FANS WANT. I’ve said it a million times, but Nintendos greatest downfall was the Wii. It was a financial success, but left a mark on them they could never get passed. All they care about now is casuals. Abandoning the Wii U fans is so stupid. It’s almost so evident they’re pulling games they had in development to be in NX. I never in my life thought I’d say this, but I hope they fail. Nintendo just isn’t the company that I loved and grew up with, and I’d much rather see them go off the market like men then stay and thrive by ruining the franchises I love. That’s my take on it.
Wow. I can say is that this E3 has been awful for me. Not because of Nintendo or any of the conference really, though Sony more or less telling their fans to spend money on getting a game made for their console I felt was disgusting. No, I must say Nintendo fans have really soured me this E3.
Nintendo promised nothing more than a few surprises and a focus on games coming out this year and early next year. We had some surprises in Mario Tennis, Animal Crossing amiibo game, 3DS Hyrule Warirors game, and Metroid Prime: Federation Force. Now, we would have had extra surprises with Ryu, Roy, and Hyrule Warriros had that not being spoiled by some lousy fuck and spread around like HIV at a needle sharing party by people who couldn’t restrain themselves from hearing and sharing this news. But you know what? You all WERE surprised and excited when you found that stuff out. You were excited and hyped and you ignorantly expected there to be more, bigger presents under your tree after you pinched a few of the presents to open early.
Nintendo did what they promised during their Digital Event and their Direct preceding it. And they still have their Treehouse to bring up more games and info. It’s like everyone forgot how it worked last year or something! It was a fun, cute, happy, energetic, brilliant paced, and had the largest list of games mentioned this E3 that are coming out THIS YEAR. Hell Nintendo’s game count for this E3 was COMPARABLE to Sony an Microsoft’s which should be a big WTF moment. 90% of SonySoft’s games are multiplatform (either with each other or PC) while pretty much all of Nintendo’s games were only for the Wii U or 3DS. That’s kinda weird considering the twins had about double what they had this year, last year. Weirder still that Nintendo ups their games to be released this year between E3 and year’s end and people get angrier than what we got the last half of last year!
They say they’re not mentioning any games that really aren’t coming out this year and people expected to see a wide array of games not sen last year? Are you all absolutely ignorant? Completely stupid? Cause that’s not going to happen in a large order. Noooot to mention the Treehouse is still going on so we have two more days of E3 info left going on and the fact that Nintendo more or less abandoned the need for E3 with their Directs which generate about as much hype and interest over all. Didn’t see what you wanted to today? Probably gonna be a Direct for that sumbitch so why do you care?!
This E3 was for Wii U/3DS owners and on the fence adopters. If you saw some things you liked with Wii U or 3DS, but needed some dates to push you over the edge, you got them. If you had a Wii U or 3DS and wanted more games, bada bing ya got ’em. Where are Vita’s games again? Metroid game not a “real” Metroid game? Not the Animal Crossing game you wanted? Grow the hell up. We NEVER get exactly what we want from any of these people and to expect exactly what you want is obscene! Halo MCC, The Order 1886, KillZone, hell Splatoon to all the voice chat wanters did not come exactly as you wanted. Nothing in the Digital Event is likely anything that will disappoint anywhere near as much as what you’d get from third party games and people act like just because you didn’t get all of everything you wanted to see, that it was bad?
Jesus, of all the E3s I’ve seen, this one was the most civil I’ve ever seen the companies act to each other, and yet the worst I’ve seen the “fans” act to themselves and to a company they’re supposedly a fan of. Arrogance, egotism, entitlement, all of these I get from the loudest post are comment steeped in such nonsense and it’s just been insane. I feel like I’m experiencing what the guy from The Network was talking about when he was going n about how it’s like everyone’s crazy… Cause it is! After I sat through that poorly done Square Enix conference and that way past boring PC conference, I come to see fans complaining about Nintendo didn’t rock their socks off when no socks were promised or even hinted at being rocked off? Yeah I think I’ll just head back to the Treehouse and enjoy one of the very few things to reliably put a smile on my face and make life not feel so much like crud when depressed, games. You all can stew in your petulance all you want, I’m out.

With all due respect commander the empire cannot be faulted for lofty expectations that the masses rose for themselves. I contend to expect any more than what we got after being told what we were told about E3 months prior to E3, is nonsense. Absolute nonsense. High command’s focus on the Wii U is aptly taken into consideration and the amiibo game is for those who wish to collect amiibo while also liking Animal Crossing. Don’t like, not interested, don’t buy.
This Digital Event provided new information on games we didn’t know about and put dates on some games we did know about. Not all, I’ll admit this, but as I said before Nintendo is beyond E3. The Directs hold far more power. So much so that everyone forgets that there is a Treehouse where more games that weren’t talked about during the Digital Event are being talked about and extensively.
Your personal feelings on wanting a SAMUS Metroid game is blinding you to the quality that within this game and as a Metroid fan myself (admittedly not as much as you Sir) I will get it because the empire does not put out shit and it looks legit actually fun after I watched the Treehouse for it. The Animal Crossing games may not be for some, but I’m willing to bet those who are interested will like them. I’m willing to be if you like Metroid, you will like Federation Force. I believe this because the empire has never let me down on quality of actual game play and I feel to call any of these games something no one would want without playing them is a terrible disservice to us as gamers. I don’t game where it’s cool or popular, I game where I damn well please because I play what I want to play. And people have been crying for another Four Swords Adventure for how long? Now it’s not needed? It’s to curb the appetite till Zelda U so you don’t feel like you got nothing at all.
And damn it Sir the Wii U is not dying! When will people stop with this ignorant mantra! For god’s sake the damn this in making Nintendo money! With ~9 million sold, Nintendo can pull profits on the Wii U that aren’t too distant from Sony’s PS4. The Wii U dying? The numbers of profit argue otherwise. High quality games made at a reasonable budget with a high attach rate equals comfortable profits. They could be doing better yes, but then they’d have to invite more pedantic civilians in and cater to their obsession of graphical fidelity over substance, style and game play. You’d get Metroid milked like Halo, Link being run through the ringer yearly like Nathan Drake, and Mario redesigned for an edgier more realistic crowd. Nintendo paying millions upon millions to secure third party ports that look no different and don’t play unique at all to the console it’s on.
And for what? To get PS4 sales? PS4 profits are what move the empire and they’re doing it a a fraction of the cost even while being ignorantly spat on by the foolish.
I mean civilians I could see being so irate, but the informed? The wise? Us gamers? Xenoblade, Devil’s Third, Fatal Frame, Shin megami Tense X Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, Star Fox, Yoshi’s Wolly World, that’s not strong and diverse enough for end of the year and spring next year games? Again WE are informed so Nintendo has no reason to pander to us, they need to inform people of what they didn’t announce which the did! SO now we’re fully informed and 8 games being released in around 6 months isn’t enough for the Wii U? Fie. Fie I say.
Directs will, as they always have, announce more, detail more, and inform us more about what we got to see this E3 and what they weren’t willing to talk about this E3.
Everyone also forgets the report that Nintendo held a business press release during the Digital Event that was not for the public, detailing information of games to be released next year as well. And if everyone is so worried about how this makes the Wii U look, perhaps if everyone behaved with some marticum of reasonbility, recognizing that the actual line up for 2015 is more in Nintendo’s favor than anything else save Steam, it’s probably look like a viable console to adopt. But if Nintendo’s fans won’t give their great games the time of day they must be really bad huh?

All understood Sir, but the empire is expanding beyond games now so that it can continue to do what they love. They have begun their assent while Sonyans and XBots have driven their respective consoles into the ground. Their refusal to demand anything more than the best looking new thing has cost Microsoft billions and Sony’s leadership has run them from a 100 billion dollar company to ~10 billion in ten years. Sony’s leadership must consolidate Sony, while the Empire has been preparing expansion.
In short Sir, the empire does not need the drugged and infected cattle to survive. Greener pastures are lain open. As I’ve said else where, Nintendo is beyond E3. They have been for two years, since they started Directs. The Treehouse is the physical counterpart to the Digital Event meaning the two go in concert, and Nintendo has broken E3 down to a discussion on what games you will be seeing that you will be getting within months rather than a year or two’s time. That is value Sir. That is progression. What’s wrong with leaving a surprise like Fatal Frame V as a little surprise for the Treehouse to talk about? Why has everyone seem to have forgotten that last year the Treehouse brought up things not mentioned in that Digital Event, yet act as if these things *must* be shown in this one?
I understand that, sure, for showmanship it would have been awesome to have Devil’s Third, Fatal Frame V, and to have saved SMT X FE for the DE, but that’s the thing, Directs give us all that info now. Why treat E3 like another time to give another Direct when it could be adding immediate value to the Wii U and 3DS? And don’t get me wrong, I would have liked there to have been more Wii U games as well, but 3DS only owners have been very inconsiderate for Wii U owners and often complain when the Wii U gets more attention. That is not the Empire’s fault, or the fault of it’s leadership. It is the fans. So comfortable are they all with getting a new shooty shooty bang bang, splosions, “arty” game every five minutes from EA, Ubisoft, Activison and the like, that they can’t just shut it and be patient. Their gluttony is even ill affecting third parties as they can hardly afford to either take a risk or stay the course with their games.
This E3 was about games being released soon for the Empire. They had another press event (if the articles are true, I’ve heard nothing of them) for what would be coming for 2016, and we were all informed of this some time ago. If we want to see more 2016 stuff, it’s terribly likely that we’ll have Directs to fill us in as they have been so happy to do so. After all, the first allusion to Zelda U was on a Direct, not at E3. So with my looking at Nintendo’s past trends I stand firmly by my statement that fans are over reacting far too much. The DE was fun and funny and it was the strongest E3 event as the Tree house told us more of the games we saw (waited till after them to respond to not continue being a hypocrite about speaking before having seen everything) were damned fun looking. All may not be for me, or the other’s but I feel that’s fine. Games are niche and really shouldn’t be for everyone. They should also not be made with a budget that would hurt if the minimum amount needing to be sold to generate profit is greater than a percentage of the console’s audience.
I want the Empire to do well as well, and I know High Command wishes to more so than I even, however I don’t really think this was a “BUY THIS CONSOLE NOW!” year for any of the big three. It was more an E3 of nudging for fence sitters. And any fence sitter with Nintendo knows that there’s not much else for the competition for this year so check the sites and, what do they see? MORE Wii U games that Nintendo is very likely to pop in a future direct or two. At least as far as I could assume.

I thank you for how very non douche baggy you were about saying that, and I already knew what people would think and likely say before I posted anything. However, if it is fine for people who are apparently so horribly mistreated, lied to, or feel that the DE was an affront to God and man, then I can speak for how I enjoyed it and how their attitude and behavior is. And I have not just said anything like “They did good because I say everything I wanted to see and they can do no wrong!” I don’t care how much of a fanboy I am assumed to be as I know it is untrue which is good enough for me.
