Project CARS Is “Simply Too Much For Wii U”

We had an inkling that Project CARS had been canned on the Wii U back in May. Studio head Ian Bell said back then that they were struggling to get the game to run properly on the Wii U and were waiting for new Nintendo hardware to be announced at E3. Well, Nintendo didn’t announce any new hardware at E3. Bell now says that Project CARS is cancelled as it is “Simply too much for the Wii U”.

“The official line is that we’re awaiting an announcement from Nintendo on new hardware. As of now pCARS is simply too much for the Wii U.”

      1. Try going onto their official forum and saying that…. Oh wait, they already responded to someone who did exactly that….Good try though.

      1. One is a simulation racer that has a complex physics engine dependent on a good CPU and the other is an Arcade space racer.

        Holy fuck, you’re an idiot.

    1. The project never existed if they, on multiple occasions, said all was going well, meaning that they lied in everyone’s face since minute one of this shitty Forza ripoff.

  1. >>>Laying apes, you could at least have the courage to say this years ago>>>

        1. Doesn’t mean his phone is perfect! I hate leaving spelling errors in my posts, but my phone and wordpress don’t always see eye to eye… So I just say fuck-it. People that know me don’t raz me for the occasional error…but then, I know you two don’t jive well, so I’ll just step out from inbetween you. XD

    1. Again, explain to me Fast Racing Neo then?
FRN looks better, runs better and is actually playable unlike Project Cars which really just sucks on the “next gen” console… Xbox One version is a mess and don’t get me started on the PS4 version… PC version is just unoptimized garbage.

      1. >>>“Xbox One version is a mess “>>>

        >>>Yes, such lovely music>>>

      2. It looks better due to the style, it’s a matter of personal preference, but the actual power of Project Cars is far greater due to the amount of detail that is put into it. Fast Racing Neo put more effort into the shine and glimmer of the game, which is why it looks so stunning. Again, it’s about personal preference and I prefer the look of FRN myself even if I think that Project Cars is more technical.

        1. PCars is actually pretty poorly made, even PC gamers are complaining about it.
Stick with Dirty, that game has at least better gameplay mechanics

          1. No worries, I stick away from the PC versions anyway. I’m a proud physical gamer so I never buy digital unless there is no alternative!

        2. Well said. I’m far more excited for FRN due to the fun factor, where gamers like Aeolus just want the game to pass all the tests Digital Foundry puts a game through technically. To each their own, but I could care less about a lap-racer that’s huge boast is not game-play related.

      3. You seriously need a pair of glasses if FRN in any way, shape or form looks “better” from a technical standpoint. Not only is it 720p, has lousy particle effects, no weather whatsoever, no dynamic day and night, but the best you can say it has to offer is….art direction maybe?

Because no, it’s not a good looking game otherwise.

        1. I wouldn’t say it’s not a good looking game, but the amount of detail and effects doesn’t even compare to pCARS. The sad thing is, Wii U wouldn’t even need all “that” much more power, just about 100% more (A better SoC and double the RAM would’ve raised the price of the console something like 30-60$) and it could get most of the next get multiplats.

        2. Your taste in what a fun game is seems horribly handycapped. Couple that with your asshole attitude, safe to say you suffer, at the very least, from some Narcissism, possibly a bit of shitty child hood,…then again, you may just be a troll.

          1. >>>I wonder if it’s the real Aeolus or just one of the semi-better clones of him>>>

            1. Yeah… I had the EXACT same thought…I’m leaning towards a polished clone version…but not sure yet.

              1. >>>The real one can try to come back, I’ll send him back to oblivion just like the last time>>>

      4. Simulation vs arcade argument.

By the way, Fast Racing Neo isn’t even available yet, so what the heck are you even talking about?

    2. So it’s a PS4 xbox next and nintendo next title. I thought it released on the current Gen hardware already. My mistake then. None of the current Gen consoles are powerful. Only fact is that PS4 is the console with the most power in it.

        1. One consoles has always been the strongest so that’s nothing new. I’m glad I play video games on consoles and not just play consoles. Power the ultimate gimmick of gaming since 2nd generation of gaming.

          1. I’d rather play consoles. Power is the most important thing in a console, it’s no gimmick. That’s why the Xbox Won and the PS4 took the trophies.

            1. It’s a gimmick it is one thing that hooks you to a console. The biggest gimmick for is a console is to play video games at home. Gimmick is not a bad word. Any think that hooks you to buy a product is a gimmick. It the a very misused word.

              1. I don’t buy that translation. I believe that a gimmick is a quirk that is used to be unique. Since all consoles play video games at home, I wouldn’t call it a gimmick.

                1. But you can’t play all video games at home. There are still arcade games that are not on consoles or PC, so the gimmick is playing games at home. That was and still is the gimmick of consoles. Just like the gimmick for handheld is to play on the go. The gimmick of FIS is the ability to play in first person instead of third person. Gimmicks are great.

                  1. I wouldn’t call it a gimmick. For example, smartphones were a gimmick when they first came out, but aren’t anymore. Also, Arcade Games aren’t a gimmick either, they’re just there. It’s like Sports or Ham and Cheese Sandwiches. They aren’t a gimmick.

                    1. Just because something is a standard don’t mean it’s not a gimmick. Once a gimmick always a gimmick.

                    2. I just don’t buy that. It’s like saying that Papa John’s main pizza is still innovative. It used to be, but isn’t anymore.

                    3. Within that logic, that would mean Super Mario 64 is no longer innovative since it became a standard for Mario. People can not pick and choose what a gimmick is. Wii Sports was a gimmick that hooked people into playing video games. Playstation 2 and 3 being able to play DVDs and Blu ray was a gimmick to get people to buy those consoles. Gimmicks are a good thing. They always have been.

                    4. Ah, but you’ve slightly misinterpreted my stance or I didn’t convey it properly. I would still say that Mario 64 Was innovative just like video games consoles were a gimmick back in the day. My stance is just that it’s not a permanent affect. These were attributes that applied to them back in the day, but no longer apply. I will grant that the DVD and blu Rays were gimmicks as they were unique and got you to play the game. Same with Wii Sports. That being said, if a system came out with blu ray or dvd support now, it wouldn’t be a gimmick since it’s already standard.

                    5. It would still be a gimmick because without it. A person may not purchase it because they do not want more than one device. The gimmick is the fact that it is still included.

                    6. I certainly disagree with that. The gimmick isn’t the fact that it is included, but the special feature that it had. So, now that the feature is not special anymore, it’s not a gimmick.

                    7. It is still special to some people. A gimmick can be something old. It is not always something new. Netflix is old both all consoles market it for a gimmick with the console. Gimmick is not a bad thing. I welcome all gimmicks.

                    8. I typically don’t mind gimmicks, but not if something is all about a gimmick like the Wii U, which really destroyed the console. I wouldn’t count Netflix as a gimmick for the consoles because it is so old. All of the consoles can do it now, it’s just another feature to have, that’s all.

                    9. Features are gimmicks. It is the things that hook you to buying the product. Gamepad is the only reason why I even bought a console this generation. I usually buy them all but all I usually would have bought ouya too. I been playing basically the same way until last generation. Gimmicks are what keep people like me for continuing to buy products that I may have lost interest in doing so. If nintendo did not have the gamepad then I would have just stayed with pc. I still don’t miss exclusive game since I will always have excess to all consoles. The PS4 and XBOX One just don’t have a gimmick I don’t I cannot get on my PC. Gimmicks are important and a very good thing.

                    10. Yes, but not all features are gimmicks. At this point, everyone expects a console to have internet, netflix, video games, controllers, etc. So, those aren’t gimmicks anymore. A gimmick for the PS4 would be that it now has a dualshock light on the controller and the Kinect would be the Xbox’s gimmick. Gimmicks can be all right sometimes, but typically I don’t care for them. For example, we definitely completely disagree on the Wii U’s Gamepad since I still find it to be one of the worst gimmicks for a video game console of all time. I really could not stand the thing.

                    11. Although we disagree, I find it a pleasure discussing this with you. I can see your side of things. PS4 and Xbox One need some type of gimmick so I can buy them. The games are not enough right now. I guess the longer you play video games the more it start feeling like the same and it just want something to kickstart. Wii did that for me and Wii U has continued it for me. Wii U just do not have the universal gimmick to hook more of the mainstream gamers. It is those gamers that affect the market. People like us just have to hope what the mainstream like is what we like.

                    12. Yes, to each their own. Video games are still my number 1 hobby so I’d buy just about any console for them, but I know that many people have started to want something new and different. I don’t really know anyone in the real world who even liked games anymore aside from family. Nintendo will certainly have a gimmick for the NX, so hopefully it’s one that we will all enjoy

                    13. If Nintendo had gone with power AND the Gamepad with the Gamepad being optional, there wouldn’t be any hate on the Gamepad unless you are part of the people that complain just for the sake of complaining. With that said, the Gamepad is NOT the worst thing about the Wii U (unless you break it THEN it’s a nightmare because you can’t access the settings & certain games are now locked til you get it fixed/replaced.) The problem is it isn’t easy porting friendly, Nintendo didn’t market it heavily, they didn’t do anything to tell everyone it was NOT the Wii & was an entirely new console because unfortunately it seems casual gamers are idiots & need things spelled out for them, & Nintendo is not even using the mass amount of money they have to buy a load of 3rd party exclusive games to fill in the gaps during game droughts.

                    14. Nah, if it’s optional then you wouldn’t have heard a squeak from me. I don’t care for the Kinect or PS Move, but I don’t bash them because you don’t need to have them. The Gamepad’s another story, I mean, you can’t even make stages in Smash Bros without the thing. It’s terrrrrrible. Again, if it was optional, then I wouldn’t complain about it. Nintendo going with power would have been awesome.

              2. How in the world is the architecture of a console a gimmick? We aren’t talking touch pads on the Dualshock 4, Kinect, or the Wii U’s gamepad. Those are gimmicks.

“Power” in it’s various avenues is integral to the processing efficiency of the machine, the way programs work on it, energy efficiency, and how a game can be created – what type of games can be created for a system. That’s not a gimmick, that’s progress.

That’s like calling a pacemaker a gimmick. Makes no sense.

                  1. You’ve been here long enough. We’re not going to crucify you for a silly error. But I understand why you’d want to correct it.

                1. Thank you for asking. If you answer to yes to this question this will answer your question. Has or Do video game companies market their console as the most powerful consoles when indeed they are the most powerful consoles? Reason for this is to use the power gimmick to hook consumers who are into powerful consoles. That’s how marketing works. Use your best gimmick to get consumers to purchase your product. Power is a buzzword. If they just said what’s in the consoles would most consumers understand or even care?

                2. I feel he’s more talking about the fact power is used as a buzzword that’s the gimmick, not power itself.

      1. Xone is about 3 times as powerful as Wii U (+loads more RAM), PS4 about 1.5 times more powerful than Xone (but actually has weaker CPU than Xone).

  2. This doesn’t come as a surprise, though. Anybody who thinks a game like Project Cars would run well on Wii U are either in denial or haven’t seen the actual game running on modern (PS4 and Xbox One) or advanced (high-end gaming PCs) hardware.

    1. I wonder how did criterion get need for speed to run on the wii u. It may have been better if they said they couldn’t get their vision on the Wii U. Understandable statement. To say it cannot run and the Wii U is a lie. Any game can run on any console, the vision of how it look and play would need to be changed.

      1. Because need for speed has the minimum of what could be considered physics in a racer. While Project C.A.R.S has full dedication to those, thus requiring a better CPU.

why are you people so autistiiiiiiiic

        1. My comment was about the statement that it could not run on the Wii U. I don’t see what your point was. I have the option to get the game. I just will not buy the game. I’m not mad with them as this does not affect my happiness. Thank you for the warm comment aelous.

        2. Need for speed was beautiful on WiiU. You’re telling me they couldn’t have improved physics by trading open world for driving in circles?

Bullshit. Like the guy said, they could have put it on WiiU, they just went all-or-nothing aka not going to bother or don’t see any money in a port.

      2. Yeah but that need for speed game was near on the scale of this game from the technical department. Hell that need for speed was on last gen, not really saying much towards wii u’s performance.

        1. Err, no it wasn’t. Stop fucking kidding yourself, lol.

Plus it still had framerate issues and a mysterious reduced player count compared to the other console versions.

          1. Ah, you work for the foundry as a graphics and framerate whore. All your comments are making sense now.

I never said, “Gee, why is NFSMW frame rate dropping all the time?” It happened. It wasn’t bad and had no affect on gameplay.

      3. They didn’t say they couldn’t get it to run on the system. It just couldn’t run at the level that they want it to. They wanted it to be on par with the other releases rather than below them.

  3. Like they said they could have tuned down a lot of stuff and got the game go run at 720 people and 30fps but I guess we will have to wait for the nx if it is any good

    1. I just had a thought. Wouldn’t it be cool if the real Eminem just hid in plain sight on the Internet as eminem123 haha.

      1. Well Shady is a Nintendo fan, so you never know, and he doesn’t have any projects in the works for now (as far as I know) so it could be a possibility lol.

        1. Oh hell. I forgot the real Eminem is a Nintendo fan. lol “Life isn’t like a Nintendo game…” … Damn. What song was that from..?

          1. “You dont get a second chance, Life is no Nintendo game.”

Not one of my favorites, but its an OK song. It’s that song with Rhianna; Love the way you lie.

    2. I personally won’t buy it at all.
Not supporting a dev who consistently lies through their teeth.

        1. Ouch. Make sure you bring Aloe if you’re going to burn people like that. Not very nice!

  4. More like they couldn’t port it and it would take too much time and money to develop the game from the ground up.

Seriously though who would want to buy this game anyway? The whole development process has been an absolute joke from start to finish.

  5. uhmm ? Nx will a striped-down wiiu with smashbros app for tabletpad emulation on android smartphones , pcar will not work . R.I.P pcar version for nintendo console .

  6. i really wont to play this game.. damm nintendo you pissing me off this year. no way is 23fps even playable.

    1. So why do you support the PS4 and Xbox One when they can’t even do 1080p at 60 fps without downgrades in the games graphics?

      1. It’s not exactly a smooth ride on PS4 Xbox either, even with the downgrade.

      2. As opposed to the Wii U only doing it in cartoony and simplistic games?

Oh and just two examples at that.

        1. I will grant you, Nintendo are infant at HD software. Flat, practically no textures. Hell, they rrleased the WiiU before they knew what the hell they were doing in the reslm of HD, and pretty much admitted it.

    1. The world is full of greedy, ignorant, arrogant (and sometimes all three) liars. Nintendo fitting the last two.

I personally never found lap-racing fun. It looks boring, so I wouldn’t buy it anyway.

    1. Exactly, If you read through the official forums, Bell pretty much says that this was the case.

  7. Who cares? The game isn’t even good on the other platforms. It’s really no loss.

However, these developers are a bunch of lying scumbags. Who would support that?

  8. Nintendo…this is what you get when you make shitty consoles like the Wii u! But you don’t care, about anyone other than those creating “”innovations”” (gimmicks like the game pad) for you. Find, he doing that. Just don’t be surprised when you’ll be basically forced into the mobile market!
Why can’t you make a proper metroid, kirby, animal crossing, fire emblem, etc… for the Wii u. In fact, why couldn’t you of made a proper (3rd party support, good online, trophy, etc…) console all together?

Oh right, because you’re extremely delusional and still think that you posses a chance at grabbing back those casual gamers.

    /end rant.

    1. No, this is what happens when a business model is abused by nasty individuals to scam starry-eyed people.

    2. What is a “proper” game? Who decides if it is “proper” or not? People throw adjectives around and it does not make sense. My favorite is “real” gamer. A gamer that is real. Are there gamers made of plastic. Back to the “proper” game, a game that is proper. It doesn’t make sense. End Rant.

      1. When I say a “proper game” I mean things like;we get a 2d plat forming kirby game like kirbys return to dreamland, we get a 2.5d exploration based metroid game on the 3ds, we get an animal crossing game that plays like new leaf…you see where I’m going with this. When I say “proper” games I mean giving the fans the type of gameplay they know and love without throwing in needless gimmicks or reinventions. Fans want A, Nintendo gives them B.
I’m not saying that innovation is inherently bad, just that Nintendo does WAY, way too much of it.
Instead of getting a proper kirby game we got a sequel to canvas curse, instead of metroid we got kiddy halo, instead of animal crossing we got Mario party :animal crossing edition (without the mini games)…

        1. Did anyone think that these spin off games is what Nintendo was able to do on short notice. Short development games for people to play. Every game cannot be AAA. Some games will be AA. They are people with their own ideas of what a “proper” game is. The creator determines what a game is not fans. It is okay to be disappointed with the directions of some games. Easy solution is don’t buy it. If a game in a series that I enjoy has a game I’m not happy with I just don’t buy it. Complaining is not going to make that game better. Sometimes developers get tired of making the same type of game over and over again. The same as we get tired of playing the same type of game over and over again. There is no such thing as a “proper” game. It does not exist.

          1. “Every game cannot be AAA” quality over quantity. I’d rather they put the resources into making proper, legit entries in their franchises instead of these shitty spin offs. Even if it ment that less franchises would be represented. I rather have a kirby game over 3 spin offs from metroid, f zero, pikmin for example.
“The creator determines what a game is not fans” so by that logic, metroid prime federation force is a true metroid game (despite lacking nearly everything that made the series so great) because Tanabe doesn’t’ consider federation force a spin off. Sorry, but I’m not going to bow down to developers and let them be the overall judge of what is and isn’t “a game”.
“Easy solution is don’t buy it” how does that solve not receiving any games in franchises for a long ass time? I don’t hate federation force because it’s just a spinoff…I hate it because that’s ALL we metroid fans get. I’m not saying is guaranteed to be shit, but it certainly looks nothing like metroid so far.
“Sometimes developers get tired of making the same type of game over and over again” and sometimes fans get tired of waiting YEARS for an instalment in their favourite series that is actually want they want (lots of people wanted to see prime 4 Wii u….especially considering prime 3 was released almost a decade ago). Ultimately, consumers come first over developers. If the old ones are tired, bring in some new ones.
“There’s no such thing as a “proper” game. It does not exist” I created it’s existence and defined what the term meant (traditional gameplay mechanics having importance over being completely fresh in new entries into a franchise). Maybe I didn’t do a good enough job of explaining this but to claim it doesn’t exist is ridiculous.

It’s perfectly fine if you like the types of games Nintendo is making. I’m just stating much extreme disappointment and frustration over nintendo’s recent handling a of franchises I care deeply about.

            1. Metroid Prime was a spin off from the Metroid series. Games evolve and devolve all the time. If you tired of waiting stop supporting then. It is that simply. Frustration is real. How is lashing out helping. You say you coined the term proper games but you was not the one who first stated it. As far as federation force goes what about it that you have played that you do not like. Also, letting Nintendo know what you like is always good. Tell nintendo you like about previous games in the series that you mention. Nintendo don’t understand I want a proper metroid. Nintendo understands I want to explore in the Metroid universe with Samus in a new adventure that have the details of the Metroid Prime series with first person or 3rd person view. This helps nintendo understands.

              1. “Metroid prime was a spin off of the metroid series” care to explian? Most fans don’t see it as a spinoff as it basically had the same gameplay as the other metroid games…just in the first-person perspective.
“If you’re tired of waiting stop supporting them” God I wish that was possible. I wish there was an alternative to the game franchises I love but nothing beats the classics (maybe due to nostalgia) like the metroid prime games and pikmin 2. Sadly, I’ve yet to find one (Axiom verge comes close though). Nintendo is, for the most part, the only ones that still make these types of games. I wish there was competition in this area but hey, what can you do.
“How is lashing out helping” because there’s always the (admittedly tiny) chance that Nintendo may read these comments and, possibly, improve things.
Another thing, it feels as if Nintendo is ignoring their fans as of late…so I don’t see them listening anytime soon. Why’d I make these comments then? Because talking about stuff like this gets things off my chest.

                1. Nintendo could never make the fans happy. I too want another Metroid game but not in the view of metroid prime. So if nintendo had announced a new one I would have passed on it as I do not play any games in first person view. So making the fans happy is impossible. They know people want a new metroid so they made this hopes people will try and enjoy it. It is not the game I want because it is in first person view. Lashing is good if examples are given. Nintendo see some comments and when they do the ones that says in detail what they like and do not like will be taken into consideration. I’m not trying to disregard your what you feel. I’m just trying to help to convey it to nintendo better.

So by spin off I was wrong in saying that, I should have just said it was different take on the Metroid universe but so is federation force.

                    1. I don’t know if this counts for anything but I’d be happy with any style of metroid. Sure, I VASTLY prefer the likes of super metroid and metroid fusion…however, I could still enjoy new styles as long as it kept what makes metroid metroid-exploration.

    3. I’m going to keep pointing this out… but here is a video of a game that looks better and runs better..

      1. I’m still waiting for this videogame that looks and runs better, did you copy and paste the wrong video?

        1. Looks a hellava lot more fun than that one game with the realistic trees, and cars…but looks no more exciting thsn my drive to work. We play games for fun here. You wanna go drive a car in circles, they rent tracks out. You’ll get your fix and then you can do something fun, like racing in a rocket car or something less meh.

    4. “Nintendo…this is what you get when you make shitty consoles like the Wii u!… Why can’t you make a proper metroid, kirby, animal crossing, fire emblem, etc… for the Wii u.”

Well, it certainly has nothing to do w/ whatever “shitty” elements Wii U has, because it’s mostly a solid console. Previous Nintendo consoles (i.e. less powerful) proved they could host great games, even Wii for all its “deficiencies” compared to its competitors. Hel, the original PlayStation & PS2 proved they could host great games despite their comparative flaws (& they were lacking in the “power” department compared to N64 & GCN respectively).

The initial problem lies w/ Nintendo’s handling of the Wii U & their ineptitude regarding HD. But imagine how slow their dev cycles would be had Wii U packed more raw power, but even 3rd parties have scaled their current offerings back, & rush releases, cut corners, exploit DLC/microtransactions, rely on annual releases & cutscenes, etc. But Wii U can definitely handle new & improved Metroid, Kirby, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem…Wave Race, F-Zero, Eternal Darkness (Shadow of the Eternals), Sin & Punishment, Cpt. Rainbow…Viewtiful Joe, Killer7, MadWorld, House of the Dead, Okami, Tenchu, Prince of Persia, Ridge Racer… As Slightly Mad Studios has proven: it’s about sticking to a platform(s) & keeping the goal in sight, which might mean sacrifices, but creativity, fun, & success are still achievable. If they didn’t have lead foots, a solid Wii U pCARS would’ve been made, & maybe PS4/X1 could’ve gotten a more grapgically intense port later on. Patience is a virtue.
Bit no matter how flawed Wii U might be, it can & has managed great games.

Then there’s the external issues, specifically the industry’s reliance on AAA, multiplatting, graphics, & photorealism, & the discarding of traditional genres, franchises, & overall console values. 3rd parties want parity w/ hardware, raw specs, & platform atmosphere. But console-gaming is about distinct atmospheres, exclusives, & variety (genres & aesthetics), all of which Nintendo still, mostly, adheres to. Then there are key 3rd-party staff memebers (directors, artists, etc.) who have been shifted around, gone indie (largely because of AAA demands), or have retired. & there’s the decline of the Japanese market (which Nintendo is rooted in).

Nintendo & SEGA are/were p/artisans of the console, electronic “toy” culture. PlayStation (up to PS2) was as well, but Sony was always more an electronics company (music, movies, PCs, phones) than a dedicated gaming company, & did rely heavily on external devs (3rd parties). MS was always about PC, rather than a device dedicated to gaming, though Xbox had some 1st party console-style games. But w/ X1, MS has really ramped up their corporate agenda, which puts gaming in a mix of other mediums. Seems MS & Western 3rd parties hijacked console-gaming & institutionalized the process. Sony, while using their consoles as a vehicle for CD, DVD, Blu-ray, & brand cred, again followed where 3rd parties wanted to go, this time, the West & MS. Fun & charm, gaming as something special or niche was smothered by the giant factories (though mobile is largely to blame). Nintendo & SEGA are/were different, & I wish SEGA was still around to give Nintendo some real competition. I do NOT want to see Nintendo leave console-gaming. I also wish 3rd parties still catered to console-gaming, adhered to the fundamentals.
There’s also the naïveté w/ consumers who started during the 7th gen cataclysm. They obviously don’t see it as such, but the climate has shifted, & comparatively worse. My opinion, perhaps, but a different pattern has emerged, 1 different than console-gaming. It’s a shame they can’t see Nintendo in a different light, or understand what the industry has lost. Sure, there have been gains, but @ a heavy cost. I guess as long as the profits in the PC/PS/X subcultute are big, it’s okay; after all, more consumers seem more & more comfortable w/ increasingly amoral business practices. Meanwhile, consoles are dying, & largely due to misnomers or unfair comparisons.

Anyway, that’s my perspective based on my gaming experience (Arcade cabinets & Pinball tables / Atari, Super NES, Saturn, N64, PS1, GCN, Wii, Wii U / Game & Watch, Pocket Arcade, Game Boy, Game Gear (borrowed), Tiger LCDs, GBC, R-Zone, GBA, DS, 3DS / more 3rd-party titles in my libraries per capita than 1st party). & my experience in other mediums & the losses & gains in quality & attitudes there.

“In fact, why couldn’t you [Nintendo] of made a proper (3rd party support, good online, trophy, etc…) console all together?”

3rd party support in this climate would require Nintendo to overhaul their identity. They’d have to release 1st-party examples of what’s hot, & w/ out innovating too much, or deviating from popular preconceived notions. Then there’s the catch-22 re quality (set the bar too high & 3rd parties will run away). Nintendo’s software would also have to push their platform specs, & likely do so w/ out stylized aesthetics in order to complement 3rd parties’ AAA addiction & to ensure 1st party is a reason to draw that crowd to their platform. Add the higher costs, bigger teams, Westernism, & keeping up w/ the Jonses, & Nintendo would have to drastically cut their output, maybe even rehash titles annually. & many icons would likely hit the chopping block, including Mario, which wouldn’t do well in photorealism & w/ a bunch of cutscenes (because gameplay is no longer a majot selling point to the masses). Seems 3rd parties would have to return to console-gaming (genres, aesthetics, AA, maybe exclusives, etc.) for an authentic Nintendo, a genuine home-console like Wii U to get their support. Plus, massive hardware sales, which helped Wii’s 3rd party support, even exclusivities, despite being so “weak”.

“good online”? I can play w/ others & download titles w/ ease, so I’m unsure what elses is needed, aside from more implementation of voice chat when more than merely a gimmick.

I feel the trophy aspect is trivial, @ least in terms of gaming fundamentals. But, as a sales gimmick, I guess it might’ve helped. Still, if the games were good enough, & enough paying customers complained for lack of fearures…

    5. This isn’t entirely on Nintendo, though. Slightly Mad Studios did lie to us for 2-3 years, telling us that it was doing great on the Wii U only to suddenly say it’s doing horrible on the console. So both are in the wrong. Nintendo for not actually listening to their fans that tell them to quit with the innovation & just spend a couple of gens to catch up to everyone else & Slightly Mad Studios for being full of shit & lying to us about the Wii U version.

    1. Daaaaaammmmmnnnnnn!!!!!!!! You smoked ’em with that line homeboy.

    2. You care seeing how you took the time to come to Nintendo site and type out that comment… just saying

      1. Isn’t just caring enough to comment on the situation and not the actual topic itsself?

    3. 3rd party came on strong with WiiU. After Nintendo stood them up at their own party…they just all kinda left. (3rd party)

  9. So do all the people who pledged their money during the kickstarter get their money back? Lieing fuckers.

  10. The widdel fuck U too weak 4 some fokn Carr geam? N1nt@nd0 b@1ng sup1ort@d by b@b1es l0l

      1. I’m glad that it makes you happy to downplay one game and hype another. Both games can be fun to play and that is all that matters with video games.

      2. Im not even really saying FRN looks bad, im just saying that the game’s should not be compared except for the fact they are Racers. It’s obvious there’s more attention to detail in Project Cars. I don’t like racing games in general, but this looks just to nice. As for not being able to get it on Wii U, I think its sad and anyone who put in money and isn’t getting the game should be refunded.

      3. I think that entire statement was shit, but hey, it’s a free speech blog! You’re allowed to stand up for games you love! Realistic cars and scenery! I haven’t seen that since I went out and got lunch!

  11. understandable. why bother downgrade your game for a system with no future. nx needs to do it right.

  12. It doesn’t even run that smoothly on PS4 and Xbone, how could it run on Wii U?

  13. This site covered this game so much, lol. Do people really expect another car/racing game so much like this? I know some people do, but I personally and honestly don’t give a single fuck, so for me this game is a huge “whatever”.
Plus, car games always tries to use all the graphical resources from the machine to make the most realistic game possible. WiiU clearly is not a powerhouse if we talk about graphics, and if graphics matter so much for this game, it was obvious since the beginning that it wouldn’t be on the system. If the developers announced this game for the system but now are giving up, shame on them. If they didn’t, you shouldn’t be expecting it anyway.

  14. They can say whatever they want, but this likely will still forevermore hurt the sales figures of any of their future games on Nintendo platforms. I do hope though that the Nintendo owners who helped pay for this game’s creation either get their money back, or are at least listed, one by one, within the game’s ending credits as financial investors. After all, this game might have never even been a thing without these Nintendo owners’ money.

  15. They scammed Wii U backers out of their money and they’re still gonna release it in the last-gen consoles? shameful.

    1. This post is the pinnacle of misinformation… Quite funny!

PS3 and 360 versions were cancelled long ago
You can always get a refund, even now, so that doesn’t count as being “scammed”.
If you invested money towards the project, you get money back as a percentage from quarterly profits.

      Your move, uninformed person!

  16. So in basic translation: “Everything we’ve ever said about this game specifically on Wii U was a lie to cheat free money so we could work on other platforms that we thought could make us more money despite them having few other similar and better games. Thanks for your kind donation to our imaginary project. Now fuck off suckers of Nintendo”

Imminent raging refund demand and lawsuit threats in 3..2..1…
