Nintendo has opened a booth full of current and coming-soon titles for its Wii U and Nintendo 3DS family systems at gamescom – the world’s largest annual trade fair for video games, held in Cologne, Germany. With several days of fun events ahead, Nintendo kicks off the show with a string of launch dates and newly revealed special editions for some key 2015 titles.

Super Mario Maker for Wii U is the star of the show at Nintendo’s booth in Hall 9.1 A10/B10 as we gear up for the 30th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. Attendees will be able to play and create unique 2D courses, or take part in daily Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U contests throughout the show. The first 111 Mario fans can get a Mario goodie bag if they come dressed as Mario and bring a Mario amiibo on Thursday 6th August at 12:00 CEST.

Zelda fans will be happy to hear that The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes is set to launch on 23rd October on Nintendo 3DS family systems. Gamescom visitors will be able to form teams of three and work together to solve unique Zelda-style puzzles and boss fights. With one life meter to share, working together will be key to overcome the game’s many dungeons…

Xenoblade Chronicles X for Wii U is playable for the first time in Europe at gamescom, as Nintendo reveals two limited edition bundles launching alongside the game in December:

  • Xenoblade Chronicles X Wii U Premium Pack: features a black premium Wii U console, a physical copy of the game, an Artbook and a World Map poster
  • Xenoblade Chronicles X Limited Edition Pack: features a physical copy of the game, a SteelBook  cover, a World Map poster, a Cover Art Poster and the Artbook

Can’t make it to gamescom? Those at home can tune into a special Xenoblade Chronicles X Twitch.tv/twitch live stream broadcast on Saturday 8th August between 16.00 – 17.00 CEST to get a sneak peak at the game. In addition the original Wii classic Xenoblade Chronicles is to be made available on Nintendo eShop on Wii U right now! Those who purchase this game will be eligible for a £9.00 GBP discount on Xenoblade Chronicles X if they buy it on Nintendo eShop on the same Wii U console within two weeks of the game’s launch in December.

Gamescom attendees can also grab the GamePad and take Star Fox Zero for a spin, while anyone at home can tune in to IGN Live on Saturday 8th August at approximately 18.45 CEST for a fresh look at the Area 3 and Titania levels in this action-packed title coming to Wii U in Q4 2015.

Fans of limited edition offerings should keep an eye out for Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water, coming to Wii U on 30th October. From that day, Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water – trial version creeps onto Nintendo eShop, giving players the opportunity to sample action from the game’s prologue and first two chapters at no cost before choosing whether to purchase all remaining chapters. At retail, the game will only be released as the Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water – Limited Edition bundle, featuring a copy of the game in its standalone packaging, a double-sided poster, an art book, four Spirit Photographs, and a SteelBook cover.

In another reveal taking place off the showfloor, today marks the premiere of the European launch trailer for Devil’s Third, now showing on YouTube. Action game guru Tomonobu Itagaki’s unique combination of shooting and melee combat launches on 28th August with an off-the-wall single player campaign as well as online multiplayer modes allowing for intense 16 player battles.

At the other end of Nintendo’s varied spectrum of offerings comes the Animal Crossing amiibo cards Collectors Album, which fits the entire Series 1 collection of cards and comes with a 3-card pack to get started, and is set to launch on 2nd October alongside Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. Animal Crossing series fans are in for a special treat at gamescom, as they can get a free download code for Photos with Animal Crossing as well as an AR Card to use with this download-exclusive Nintendo 3DS title, which lets fans take photos of some of their favourite Animal Crossing friends in real world settings.

Owners of Pokémon Omega Ruby & Pokémon Alpha Sapphire who stop by the booth are also in for a treat as they can collect a card with codes that, when inputted into their copy of either game, will unlock two of four exciting Pokémon. These special Pokémon were hand-picked and primed for battle by GAME FREAK’s Shigeki Morimoto himself and include Aromatisse, Bouffalant, Malamar and Sableye. Which pair will you be lucky enough to receive? For more details (in German) visit http://www.pokemon.de/gamescom.

Last but not least, a large part of Nintendo’s booth at gamescom 2015 is dedicated to “Nindies”: talented indie developers showcasing their most recent work for Nintendo eShop on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. From new tracks in Shin’en Multimedia’s FAST Racing Neo to the first hands-on with Plague of Shadows, the upcoming free DLC for all Shovel Knight owners, a new Nindies @ gamescom 2015 trailer showcases all indie games at the booth – and a whole lot more!

  1. So sick and tired of hearing about Splatoon and XCX.

Nintendo thinks their fans need to be satisfied with only 2 or 3 games a year.

        1. Dude have you played Splatoon tommorow(europe) today (USA) is actually the release of Splatoon V2.0 and yeah every week you’ll get Splatoon news becaus you get free content if you are sick and tred of it stop reading it ! ;p simple!

          1. You’re must be blind. Nintendo keep doing this to distract people from all the problems the company has been having.

Also, all the “free content” was ready to be burned on the disc when it released. If you have the illusion that Nintendo is working to please the fans, go ahead and keep living in your delusional world.

  3. Hm. Damn. I should have sold my copy of Xenoblade Chronicles for Wii when I had the chance to get at least 30 bucks for it. Oh well. Too late now. Xenoblade Chronicles X, Devil’s Third, & Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water need to come soon because my Wii U needs some game love.

    1. >.< Oh look. I'm finally being targeted by a troll. This is a HUGE honor. Thank you, eminem123!. You're welcome.

      1. I don’t know why he thought you were “being whiny” I’m pretty sure you just commented about wanting to buy some games.

        1. He’s probably referring to my posts that criticize Nintendo instead of bending over & taking it up the ass like a good little bitch. lol

        2. I have complaints & I have the right to express those complaints. If people like him don’t like it, tough shit. I love it when people complain about other people complaining as if it makes them better than us somehow. The meaning of irony is lost on people like that.

          1. I just wanted to see if you reply and of course you did and I already know nintendos many faults but I don’t keep saying the same shit over and over towards Nintendo since I have been reading about them for a few years and I see and acknowledge it and move on and accept this is how they do business now things so in that regard yes I am better then you and all of the people making dumb petitions and constantly whining and can change gradually or instantly and that is why a lot of people skip nintendo consoles or get a second console for a lot of stuff they will miss out on and I’m sure you know they keep doing the same shit over and over again but bitching gets you obviously nowhere and it changes nothing and now Nintendo have made a lot of changes recently throughout the years but people either view them good or bad but as long as they make games I like I will continue to buy their systems and that’s the same for anyone else ya retard and for example just yesterday someone who works at Nintendo says they read what the fans have to say but that doesn’t mean shit lol because if nintendo would listen to the fans who can possibly boost their business then they may be in a much better spot then now but nintebdo does whatever they want to do and you should obviously know that ya fuckin retard

            1. You have good points, you really do… Sadly, it’s all meaningless when you resort to immature insults. Why? Why do you resort to them? Does it make you feel mature? Does it make you feel like a man? Does it make you feel superior? If it does, wow. You need some help, dude. Get a psychiatrist because narcissism is a mental illness and you should address it before it gets any worse & you start to get a false sense of accomplishment and think you are some kind of god or something.

              1. Sadly, if you really are narcissistic, it’s already too late to save yourself because in your mind the only thing that matters is yourself & no amount of facts will prove otherwise.

              2. This is how I comment I said that from the very beginning I don’t hold back I tell people whatever I have to say with no restraints and what facts are you talking about lol you have been constantly whining for several things yo dumb ass should won’t change anytime soon that is whst im talking about not nothing else and the most recent example is for federation force people can say whatever about the game now I saw the tree house game play and the game looks alright to good and I’m sure it will sell and how much idk but it will definitely introduce more people to the series and you and others are acting like this is the end of the series for you when you obviously don’t have to get the game when a new metroid is possibly in development now or is coming later and there may possibly be a new 2d metroid game who knows and the fact that you get my points is that you know I make sense but whether you accept it or not depends on you

                1. Yep. Apparently criticizing Nintendo does equal whining on here. But you have some nerve to call some of us whiners. You complain about the people complaining. So what does that make you? Hm? lmfao Irony is lost on you, it seems.

  5. The Reality is that Sony and Microsoft pay for exclusives…and Nintendo only does that every now and then…back in the day developers made games and couldn’t wait to put it on nintendo, Sega, Sony or Xbox…but then Sony and Microsoft began purchasing exclusives and the power shifted from the Platform Companies and over to the Developers…so now a developer can make and release a game full of bugs and glitches and it’s ok to the masses because the graphics are awesome…A video game is meant to be fun, challenging and a break from reality but somewhere along the way gamers only care about graphics and developers dictate who gets what and when and to what extent and that’s b.s….Sony and Microsoft need Nintendo to fail so that they don’t have to worry about them…You can’t have a Video Game Company (Nintendo) giving you Mario, Zelda, Smash, Splatoon, Wonderful 101, Donkey Kong etc….and then turn around and give them FF, Madden, NBA 2K, NHL, MLB, GTA, Dark Souls, and all of the other 3rd party games that Sony and Microsoft pay for…..Nintendo would be on top because without exclusives there would be no need for multiple consoles in a house…Buy the one that you love the most and then buy those games on that console…Sony and Microsoft simply can’t compete when it comes to 1st party games…because they are a Computer Company and a Product and Movie Company…Nintendo is only and will only ever be a Gaming Company…

someone mentioned above that Nintendo is fooling people with free content by giving free DLC to Splatoon because it was already hardcoded into the game….to that I say even if that’s true….it’s still free and it changes the game up….but the last I checked EVERY PS4 and XB1 game have Day 1 DLC for purchase….they sell you a Season Pass so that you can get the other stuff already in the game and then you future stuff for free if you purchased the pass…Evolve had almost $200 of DLC DAY 1….come on now…that stuff should have just been in the game…but if gamers purchase this stuff then there is no reason for developers to stop this practice….there is no need for them to fix there glitchy games because you run out and buy them day one…

    1. Sony and MS don’t need Nintendo to fail. Nor do they want them too. Wtf are you talking about? Nintendo’s failures are their own fault. And no EVERY PS4 and XB1 game does not have day one DLC or a season pass. You’re delusional if you think that’s true. And they can’t compete with exclusives? Ok, then how come the Wii U hasn’t already outsold the other consoles despite the fact that it has “the best exclusives of this generation” as some of you claim it does?

      1. Wow. I use to be like that, thinking there was some conspiracy against Nintendo, blissfully unaware of the fact Nintendo was digging their own fucking grave by making their consoles hard to port to. Sure, 3rd parties are getting lazy, but Nintendo isn’t helping matters by only listening to the lowest common denominator: the fanboys. It’s like they weed through all the criticisms & just listen to the “Yay! You’re doing great, Nintendo! Don’t change a thing!” To be a truly successful business that wants to last for as long as the world spins, you have to cater to the 9 out of 10 people, not that 1 person that stands alone.

      2. But I doubt he’s entirely wrong, either. I’m sure there are a few cases of Microsoft or Sony paying for exclusives to keep their competition from getting it. I mean, you do need to have something exclusive to your console or risk getting ran out of the business by the superior console.
