Pokemon Company: Pokken Tournament Is Not The Main Pokemon Thing For 2016

The Pokemon Company International’s Director of Consumer Marketing J.C. Smith has revealed that Pokken Tournament isn’t the main Pokemon surprise they have in store for consumers in 2016. The discussion was centred around Pokemon’s 20th anniversary which will take place in early 2016. What would you like to see announced during the celebrations?

“Will Pokkén Tournament be…is that your main plan for the early part of the 2016 anniversary?”

In response, Smith simply said, “No.”

However, when pressed further, he stated, “I’m splitting hairs. No, there’s lots of stuff planned for the 2016 year but nothing I can talk about now.”

        1. OH THE FUCKING HORROR!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES & FLEE NINTENDO’S VERSION OF MICRO-TRANSACTIONS IN THE FORM OF LITTLE TOYS!!!

    1. They would never make a Blue remake you doofus. It’s always been Red and GREEN. Blue was a special version originally. USA’s Blue was just Green with Blue’s graphics.

      1. No no no. Usa’s Red and Blue were Japan’s Blue version. Red and Green ,in Japa, were the same graphics and such, and were inferior to Japan’s Blue version.

    1. i think there will be alot of rumors for next year pokemon game if they show more information about this next year 20th anniversary i want nintendo and the pokemon company do something big for its 20th anniversary and from my establishment from this whole predicament i want to see them to make pokemon diamond and pearl as a remake thats what i wanted to see hey maybe sometime in the near future maybe they can remake red and blue version or remake black and white game instead of using those sprites if those nintendo developers try to remake them for the 3DS next year or for the new handheld console in the future we should be good and we can have a great pokemon game that is more enjoyable or if they announced a new pokemon game with a new region new trainers and new pokemon in 2016 or 2017.

    1. They do, but a Pokémon Stadium-styled game would take some effort, which is something they don’t like.

      1. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

        >>>I want a-Pokemon Stadium like the previous ones but with all generations and so on, that will make it a true experience in my opinion>>>

  1. Full out Pokemon MMO, 3d models. Different regions could be added later. Alsox whatever it is let the pokemon walk behind you like in Soulsilver version. $$$

  2. They really should do a game that lets you go to all the regions in the game. If it’s too big a project for 3DS put it on Wii U, we need console main games!

I have a feeling we’re gonna get a new main game next year. They’ve already remade all the games up to GBA, not much else to do there. They could remake Diamond and Pearl I suppose, but I doubt that’ll happen.

It’s crazy to think it’s been 20 years though, holy crap. Though it’s only 18 here in the US. That threw me off cos I definitely wasn’t playing Pokemon when I was six!

  3. Eh, probably just more of the same old same old. We already know you guys don’t care to take many risks with Pokemon.

    1. The last time they took a risk ( Ruby and Sapphire to be precise) many older fans got anal and left due to a lack of nostalgia, and sales suffered. So why would they do it again? Especially since people can’t even handle the fact that new Pokémon have to exist.

  4. They’re going back to Pallet Town — likely a first gen remake/reimagine for Wii U.

It’s 20th anniversary, they have to do something huge for this big of a franchise. Especially since there has been zero info so far about the next main game.

  6. Oh yeah I’m sure that you’ll shock and wow us with a new 3ds game that has the exact same graphical style as the the others, hacks off any original concepts from the other games and throw a new legendary Pokemon at us. The thing that will wow and surprise Pokemon fans WOULD be pokken tournament. Because console spin off games that are fun are few and far I between. Unless they did a hd remake compilation thing on the wiiu. (Which they won’t) nothing is going to surprise Pokemon fans.

  7. oh yeah i forgot next year will be pokemon series 20th anniversary in 2016 i think you know the thing i want to see next year for there announcement for the celebration is pokken tournament amiibo support and other DLC pokemon characters and stages yeah that will be a great game for me to get next year and i wonder if one of those developers can have a chance to bring the game for a online tournament then all of us can battle the world on the Wii U and i wonder if nintendo have any IPs to do that such a fantastic montage in the game, see the thing that nintendo needs for there games is to show any hints and details and secrets about there upcoming games and they been working on other projects for a few years and teaming up with other studios and companies just to make such a good game and franchise.

  9. Gen 7 with graphics and gameplay of a current gen game, not a PS1 or SNES-like game like the other ones are.

Oh, and Kanto and Johto pls.

  10. The only thing that will wow me will be a full length Pokemon game for the Wii U that is like the main games on the handhelds with a huge ass story that will keep us busy for weeks.

…or Pokemon Snap 2 with an option to use the Gamepad as the camera.

  13. Would honestly rather have an X2/Y2 over a Z version.
There does not need to be a third game in every single generation we get.
Really liked the unique example they set up by surprising everyone with sequels to Black/White instead of taking the generic “Let’s release a third version like always and call it Gray” route.
There’s literally nothing wrong with changing up the recipe once in a while with the Pokemon games.
