Ubisoft Planning Next-Generation Theme Park In Malaysia

Ubisoft has today announced that it plans to open a huge next-generation theme park in Malaysia. The park will open its doors to the general public in 2020 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is set to be a spectacular 10,000-square-meter indoor complex complete with rides, shows and other attractions based around Ubisoft IPs. No doubt Rayman, Just Dance and Rabbids will be a highlight.

“Ubisoft’s intention for this park is to immerse people in reactive worlds where they can interact with each other and become the heroes of their own life-sized game,” says Jean de Rivières, senior vice president of Ubisoft Motion Pictures

“Ubisoft will produce all digital media for the rides, and help design guests’ journey into the park to ensure the visitors’ experience is at its best,” says Rivières.

“Malaysia is the second-most-visited country in Asia” Rivières adds, citing a 2014 report by the World Tourism Organization. “There is room for multiple projects to take root in the region and a growing middle class with an increasing income and appetite for entertainment.”

  1. Ubisoft is stupid. They should have just made a Rayman Legends 2 immediately after the first one went on sale. Fuck a theme park.

  2. PC Master Race Agent Narud

    ||Not totally unexpected that these slaves would follow the others in this……

    ||This will actually hasten our process……

  3. So Ubisoft theme park….in Malaysia…right right, um I have several questions about this.
Does Ubisoft really have enough games that would transition well into a ride? I could see Rayman, Maybe Assassin’s creed, but I don’t know. Why Malaysia? Other than it’s the most visited place in Asia, is that like the largest source of income where their games are bought? And well this seems like and overall bad idea.

    1. I agree. This was a bad idea for Ubisoft. Ubisoft’s games, with the exception of Assassin’s Creed, Rayman Legends, and Just Dance, are not popular enough to justify a themepark. Hell Activision should get a themepark before them.

  4. This is a instant fail, they can’t make a simple game without bugs and glitches, what the hell do you think is going to happen when one of their rides begin to fuck up!?

Park Employee #2: excuse me Mr. Yves Guillemot, sir.
Yves Guillemot: who told you to speak to me!
Park Employee #1: But sir, we have a problem with one of the rides!
Yves Guillemot: I can’t be bothered with this, right now I’m busy Imagining the new visitors as dollar signs, who I will milk for everything they’re worth, by selling them T-shirt featuring mediocre characters from our dried up IPs.
Park employee #2: Mr Yves Guillemot, the T-shirts are ready.
Yves Guillemot: I told you if the customers want color added to their Aiden Pearce shirts, that will cost an extra $20 per color, per shirt, MAKE IT AGAIN!!
Park Employee #1: But sir It’s really, REALLY bad!
Yves Guillemot: Dammit, WHAT’S WRONG NOW!!
Park Employee #1: 20 people are dead!
Yves Guillemot: Oh!? uuuuhhh….! Call maintenance to come patch it up, I want that ride moving again, immediately!
Park Employee #1: But the ride is broken, we can’t risk it!
Yves Guillemot: Don’t worry about that, we will have a permanent fix… maybe in a year….. or two……. if I feel like it.

    THIS WILL HAPPEN

      1. It’s “indoors.” All of it will be anyway. I think that is why it is “next-gen.”

That, or Ubisoft is obsessed with the term “next-gen” and throw it around like a rag doll to entice customers.

  5. Theme park in Malaysia?? So, basically I will never go.

Also, no one I know will ever go.

Who are the people that are going to Malaysia to make it the sexond most visited Asian country? Probably not Americans. It isn’t even on my list of countries to visit.

  6. oh no be careful everyone! don’t go to Ubishit land. The rides might be broken because they were probably rushed to be built.

  7. Ubisoft Hype Commercial: “Do you not get enough of Ubisoft games being glitches!? Do you want even more glitchy shit!? Then come on down to Malaysia where we have the first ever Ubisoft Theme Park! Welcome & enjoy as our rides break down on the first day & we take our bloody time to patch them up! *the happy tone goes away & it becomes dead serious* Bring money!”

Lol. It would be funny if they downgraded the graphics. Like, that’s not even possible in real life.

  8. Does Ubisoft really have enough IPs that people care about to drag in attention? Assassin’s Creed isn’t really family-friendly, so that’s gonna target a certain audience. The Rabbids are a joke plastered all over shovelware titles. And there’s really not much you can do with Just Dance…. It just sounds absolutely stupid. I can’t imagine this would attract enough of an audience to warrant even spending time making up a sketch.

    1. They have Rayman, Prince of Persia, Beyond Good and Evil, Splinter Cell, Watch Dogs, Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon (and a few more Tom Clancy’s games), Trials (lol), Far Cry, Brothers in Arms, Call of Juarez, Red Steel.

As a Rayman, PoP, BGaE and kinda a Splinter Cell fan, I think that would be neat.

      1. Rayman is popular enough.

Prince of Persia? mostly because of the movie, though Aladdin slays the hell out of it by the way.

        Beyond Good and Evil? *crickets*

        Splinter Cell *crickets*

        Watch Dogs is acceptable.

        Rainbow Six? *crickets*

        Ghost Recon? *crickets*

Trials? Is that even a game? Like, does it really exist?

        Far Cry? Eh, I don’t think so…

        Brothers in Arms? *crickets*

        Call of Juarez? *crickets*

        Red Steel? *crickets*

The only games popular enough are Assassin’s Creed, Just Dance, and Rayman Legends. Prince of Persia, Watch Dogs and MAYBE Far Cry if you really want to fill in the empty space. Like Ubisoft needs to get off of their high horse. They are trying to come for Nintendo and it just doesn’t work. Ubisoft isn’t important enough to the masses outside of Rayman Legends and Just Dance to justify the cost of a themepark. Then you have to think of other successful themeparks. Nintendo is going to succeed because they are working with Universal Studios, AND Nintendo’s IPs are important to the masses.

          1. -_- No. I don’t know WHO deluded Ubisoft into thinking they were important enough to warrant their own theme park. I want to go to Ubisoft and say, “who lied to y’all?!”

Look I wouldn’t mind Ubisoft getting a few rides at a video game theme park. It can be the AAA theme park with Activision, EA, Bungie, etc. Though getting their OWN theme park? Who do they think they are, Nintendo?

            1. HollowGrapeJ (The Legendary Video Game Master And Anime Wizard)

Well, no one specifically said Nintendo could be the only gaming company to make one. We just need to wait and see how it plays out.

              1. Nintendo is NOT the only one. I agree. I don’t think Ubisoft is important enough to make a theme park though. Ubisoft only has Assassin’s Creed games. That’s practically a Renaissance Festival to be honest. Just Dance is a GREAT example but there’s only so much you can do with a dancing game. Rayman Legends and Rabbids are the best bet for Ubisoft’s creativity, but those four games won’t be enough to fill out a good enough amusement park.

Like I said, it would be great if Ubisoft was apart of a AAA video game themepark. Ubisoft by itself kind of sucks. It’s going to be a waste of money. Like no one ever thought, “I would LOVE a Ubisoft themepark.” People say they want: Nintendo, Sega, Pokemon, video game, etc. No one really wants Ubisoft specifically.

                1. HollowGrapeJ (The Legendary Video Game Master And Anime Wizard)

You have to think about it this way though. Ubisoft has plenty of franchises and many ideas from their games that they can use. I don’t think they would be making this at all if they didn’t know what they were doing. I’m sure they’ve planned this out for quite some time.

                  1. Xenoblade Master Ridley X3

She’s got a ton of points, though. Quit defending Ubisoft so much. They DON’T deserve it as they rip off their fans more than anything.

                    1. Thanks. I admire Ubisoft for their big dreams, but they need to get back to reality. No one requests a Ubisoft theme park in specific. They want video game theme parks, but not Ubisoft in specific.

                    2. HollowGrapeJ (The Legendary Video Game Master And Anime Wizard)

I’m just trying to think about it rationally. This park could be good OR bad. I think Ubisoft makes some stupid decisions when it comes to gaming, but I’m not letting that decision get in the way of how I view this. What I’m saying is you can’t just say the park is guaranteed to fail just because you don’t like Ubisoft. I’m interested in how this is going to work.

                  2. “I’m just trying to think about it rationally. This park could be good OR bad. I’m not saying this because I hate Ubisoft. I may not like them, but I can give them credit where it’s due. I like the idea of an Assassin’s Creed film. I don’t really care about Assassin’s Creed, but it will expand their brand and rake in cash for them.

The theme park is just a bad idea altogether… Not many, like a really small minority, play a Ubisoft game and think, “I want this to be a themepark.” Assassin’s Creed will be a Renaissance Festival so… Just Dance, Rabbids, and Rayman Legend aren’t enough IPs to warrant Ubisoft’s own theme park. It’s financially a stupid idea.

                    1. HollowGrapeJ (The Legendary Video Game Master And Anime Wizard)

Like I said, they have many IPs. They are not all as popular as Assassin’s Creed. But if the park can be somewhat of a success, it can get more people introduced to those franchises. And then more games can be made. You do have a point though. It could very well be a failure too…

                    2. Assassin’s Creed isn’t the most popular IP. I would say Just Dance is to be honest. Also the name Ubisoft or Assassin’s Creed isn’t really mainstream. You have to factor in that theme parks tend to attract a family friendly crowd. Assassin’s Creed isn’t family friendly. Also Ubisoft has mostly M-rated games that aren’t even popular. It’s a bad idea for them. They don’t have the mass appeal to sell a theme park off of name alone, nor do they have enough creative/kid friendly IPs.

                      1. HollowGrapeJ (The Legendary Video Game Master And Anime Wizard)

I am 100% sure they are going to have Assassin’s Creed themed rides or items at that park. It’s one of their biggest franchises. And if they show that, no doubt they will bring out other M rated games and make attractions of those too.

                      2. Look dude. Assassin’s Creed is basically a Renaissance Festival. Also Ubisoft or Assassin’s Creed isn’t a popular name. Their other IPs are like ??? What are they? I don’t know. The theme park will attract people, not families, that like theme parks anyway in Malaysia. Americans or Europeans will not fly over to Malaysia for a Ubisoft theme park. Hell not even Disneyland in Europe is doing well and it’s fucking Disney.

        1. Honestly if won’t… Ubisoft is trying to take shots at Nintendo but it’s super embarrassing. Like I’m embarrassed FOR THEM. They made ZombiU for the Ps4/Xbox/PC. Um… It’s been like 2 or 3 years Ubisoft. The people who DID care about that game could probably care less now… Now they want to do a theme park. LOL.

Ubisoft was like: Nintendo, my IPs are important!

          Nintendo: Bitch where?

          Ubisoft: Like Just Dance!

Nintendo: Bitch where? On OUR console. lol.

      2. Announcer: Ubisoft in “Now it’s just Getting Sad”

Ubisoft: Okay, okay, hear me out. I have this themepark and it’s going to feature: Just Dance, Assassin’s Creed, and Rayman Legends.

Ubisoft stans: you can also insert Prince of Persia, Watch Dogs, Far Cry, and *random games people give zero fucks about.*

Ubisoft: See, there’s a lot going on here.

Ubisoft stans: Lot going on, it actually seems pretty fun.

      3. If they actually do this, the only silver lining would be when this fails(No if’s about it people), it drives them much closer to declaring bankruptcy.

        1. I don’t want them to go bankrupt. Even if they are assholes, I don’t wish bankruptcy on anyone. I just know it’s a dumb idea. If they don’t lose money on it, then it won’t make them much.
