Club Nintendo Replacement My Nintendo Is Set To Launch March 2016

If you were following the blog last night you would have seen that Nintendo outlined its plans for their long-awaited Club Nintendo replacement to investors. The new service is simply titled My Nintendo and is set to give you points for not only purchasing software but also playing video games on Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo’s upcoming mobile titles. Nintendo has revealed that the points you acquire will allow you to purchase downloadable content, merchandise, or alternatively a coupon, which can be used as a discount for new software.

“We will start a new point program as well, which not only involves Nintendo’s dedicated game systems but also smart devices. With the Club Nintendo membership service that was ended on September 30, 2015, you earned points when you purchased software. With this new point program, you can earn points by playing games as well. Whether you have played the software for dedicated game systems or our applications for smart devices, you can earn points that can then be used on our dedicated game systems or on smart devices. Naturally, you can also earn points by purchasing software. With the new points, you can obtain digital add-on content, which will make the game you are playing even more fun, original merchandise or a coupon, which can be used as a discount for new software. This is also a plan for the future, but we are going to provide our membership service benefits in other real-life facilities such as theme parks, movie theaters and retail outlets. The name of our new membership service is “My Nintendo.” My Nintendo will work as a bridge between dedicated game systems and smart devices. Both My Nintendo and Miitomo will be available in March 2016.”

  1. Buy a game, get points.
    Play a game, get points.
Use points for coupon, get your next games cheaper.
    Lather, rinse, repeat.

Epic stuff, but I’m also looking forward to what other real-world outlets will accept the points.
It’d be really great if they could partner with places like Best Buy and Game Stop so that the points could be accepted in those places, too.

          1. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

            >>>Only a silly little boy would still go on after being defeated over 5000 times already by me, the great superior cyborg of doom>>>

            1. 💃I'm a Boss Ass Bitch💯

No bitch. It is you who has been fucking defeated. I know your motives. I’m not fucking stupid. But in the end, I will always be the last bitch standing.

  2. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3

With this My Nintendo system giving you points for playing games, I can now say I look forward to when Nintendo implements achievements… if accomplishing an achievement gives us points for My Nintendo, that is.

    1. Same. If achieving things in games can earn me some physical rewards and such, it’s sure a heck of a lot better than the pointless trophies you earn in Playstation games. I never understood the point of trophies. I mean, you earn trophies just by completing even the simplest missions in games. Not even worth bragging rights.

      1. Achievements are for completionist sake. Get 100% of the achievements means doing everything the game has to offer that the developers care for. Even before achievements existed games had a completion percent. Did you ever need 100%? No. So why are you complaining now? Don’t care, don’t talk, apathy.

  3. i guess coins will not be feature in the new program but i gonna say sense nintendo is putting out points instead of coins then the points will be good enough for me and march 2016 release date well i guess they have more time on making the layout for my nintendo.

  4. One of my suggestions in surveys I’ve done on Club Nintendo was to provide points for meeting certain goals in qualifying games, so this is pretty neat to actually see something like that happen. Now if only they’d listen to my thoughts regarding the eshop.
