Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash Has A Day One Update

If you picked up Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash when it launched yesterday, you may have noticed a surprise waiting for you. An update was released just in time for the game’s launch, bringing it to version 1.0.1. According to Nintendo, the update is simply to make adjustments that provide “a more pleasant gaming experience.” For those of you who purchased the game, can you confirm this pleasant experience?

Be careful what you hope Nintendo doesn’t do because they have a tendency of doing exactly what you don’t want them to do.

    1. One of the few reasons that I kind of prefer Smash Brawl to Smash U (in terms of single player) is that there’s plenty of replayability in being able to unlock all the characters in many different ways and everything. In Smash Wii U, there’s much, much fewer characters /stages to unlock and it feels like much less challenges (or at least less rewarding challenges).

      1. The actual challenges are great, though. The only thing that feels like a step back from Brawl is the lack of a history mode and boss rush (although I don’t really like the boss rush).

  1. I’d like to hear what people have to say on it. I preordered through Amazon back in October and got an email the other day that my copy wouldn’t arrive until January, so I have to cancel it and pick up the game elsewhere

What so many saw as a great thing about Splatoon will soon become a curse as future games like Splatoon & Mario Tennis are released unfinished at $60 bucks with small updates every week or few weeks that adds a little something to the game over the next 3-9 months. Better hope the development team doesn’t go under before they release enough updates to make the game truly worth 60 bucks. Otherwise, you just got scammed out of 40 bucks.
