Shovel Knight Amiibo Coming To US In January

Yacht Club Games has confirmed today that the long-awaited Shovel Knight amiibo will be heading to the United States on January 8th. For those of you in Europe you will be able to purchase the amiibo on December 11th. The reason behind the delay in the United States is that Yacht Club Games wanted to be able to fulfil the demand. They could have released the amiibo before Christmas but they would have had stock issues. Anyway, you will be able to get your hands on him on January 8th!

The amiibo unlocks additional modes, customization options, and bonuses in both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U versions of Shovel Knight. In both games, you can level him up to 50, change his appearance, get new relics for additional abilities, and go through more Challenge stages. The Nintendo Wii U version also adds cooperative multiplayer to the formerly single player campaign and coop Challenge stages.

  1. They delayed it to ensure it would be well-stocked in all regions?

    Amiibo are barely a year old and already an up-and-coming third party is beating Ninty at its own game.

    …where’s the Robin and Lucina restock, Nintendo?

    1. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!}

      Ike got a nice restock as the Gamestop closest to me had a number of them. Sadly, Ragnell on the Ike amiibo looks like total fucking shit so no buy.

        For someone who’s been spamming about wanting to get XCX day 1 on a good majority of MNN articles for the past two weeks, I’m surprised you didn’t preorder it at Gamestop’s store 2 weeks ago so you could guarantee you’ll be able to pick it up on day 1.

        1. Nope not a good majority only on some and I just paid for it in full today and I ordered the guide from ebay but I don’t care when I get that since I will be grinding in certain parts of the game throughout the game for a long time I expect to put 500 to 1000 hours into this game

        2. I know this is unrelated to Shovel Knight, but… Whatever happened to the new content Nintendo was supposed to show at the Game Awards? It was literally the only reason I was watching it, and it didn’t happen.

          1. I knew it was going to be as meh worthy as the Spike TV Awards from last year (Hooray for fucking Cranky Kong’s reveal).

            At least there’s the Smash broadcast to look forward to, if it won’t happen during the same week as college finals.
