Kotaku Looks At The State Of Wii U In 2015

Online gaming publication Kotaku has been looking at all three home consoles this week and has given their verdict on how they feel have fared this year. Today, they have focussed on the Wii U. While we have had some stellar games this year including Xenoblade Chronicles X, Yoshi’s Woolly World, Splatoon, and Super Mario Maker, the site believes that this year has been a transitional period for the Kyoto based company. What do you make of the Wii U in 2015? Has it lived up to your expectations?

The Wii U had a tough 2015. Nintendo can boast that they’ve released some of the most excellent exclusives of the year, yes, but with their next console looming in the horizon, it’s hard not to feel like 2015 was a transitional period.

  1. The entire staff of kotaku doesn’t hold a candle to your journalism skills sickr.

You do not need to post anything about what they say, specially something this irrelevant.

  2. Looming on the horizon…they make it sound like it will be out by the summer, and if you honestly think the NX that comes next year is replacing Wii U clearly you ignored Kimishima, Miyamoto and formally Iwata’s words. NX HANDHELD is coming first mark my words.

    1. that’s what i think as well the NX console isn’t coming until atleast 2017 or 2018, seriously guys give the a Wii U a chance its really not that bad honestly its my favorite console this gen XD

      1. I think that would make sense and with the release of the nx home console you should be able to use the handheld as a controller. But if the release of the home console is in 2018, they have to compete with playstation 5 and xboxTwo. So will it then be on par with this two consoles?

    2. I have seen you comment many times about this NX handheld. I am not saying it isn’t true, but could you please give me a link to the article where they said anything about the NX being a handheld? Heck, I haven’t even seen an article saying it’s a home console. We have barely any information on it. So whatever article indicated to you that there would be a handheld, please post a link. I am genuinely curious and would love to read it. 🐧

  3. I hope to god my 3DS eshop games carry over because man I gots a lots! 3DS kicks ass but yes! It is getting old. And thinking about NX HD DS is exciting.

It looks like 2016 could be one of the better if not the best year for Wii U. But unfortunately, it’s a bit too late. Lot of people have moved on and didn’t look back. Zelda for Wii U is next year and it is really tempting. Still not quite sure if I want another Wii U just yet though. We shall see.

    1. I have to disagree about peoplee “moving on”… I think a wide majority of people with a WiiU, haven’t “moved on” and those that don’t, probably see another console as doable and with the games coming and that have come out, it is a good time to get one… instead of having your second console being the same as the other (for the most part, the other two are very similar) why not get something different? I think that will keep WiiU relevant for a bit

    2. Zelda, Star Fox, and Pokken Tournament, what else is gonna help them next year? I can’t see them pulling out too many worthy surprises. I don’t think it will be the best year, last year had both Smash and Mario Kart along with Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2, and others. I can’t see them topping that next year.

    3. Exactly. I have moved on and pity the hell out of Nintendo for stupidly abandoning everything and everyone that made them great. I feel like the entire industry is run by morons answering to quick easy fool’s money.
