There’s finally a game that supports every single amiibo, and not only is it an indie game, but it’s a puzzle game as well. Developed by Lightwood Games for the Wii U and 3DS, Word Puzzles by POWGI delivers an array of lexical activities for you to play with any and all the figures you’ve collected. So how does an indie game earn this monumental privilege? With a caveat, of course.
You won’t be looking for Ganondorf in a word search, that is unless you ironically nicknamed your Link amiibo. Lighthouse Games’ Chris Newman explains the integration in his interview with SeafoamGaming:
The way we’ve implemented it, every single amiibo is supported – even ones that haven’t been announced yet…It uses the nickname you set when you register the amiibo to generate a unique puzzle so what you get by tapping an amiibo is absolutely unique to you.
So like most amiibo support, it’s not as exciting as one would have hoped, but it’s better than nothing! You can read the entire interview explaining how the studio got the opportunity to use amiibo, here. You can also find the Wii U and 3DS trailers for the game below. Word Puzzles by POWGI is due out on the European Wii U and 3DS eShop on January 28th, with a North American release soon to follow.
