The Club Nintendo replacement, My Nintendo, is set to kick off next month in 39 countries. Nintendo’s first goal for the program is to reach at least 100 million registrants. Some of the features that My Nintendo will offer from the get-go include a points program, coupons for downloads, emails, digital contents and more. Platinum Points can be used to redeem original goods, while Gold Points can be exchanged for coupons.

You thought it was a good run the last 2 years? You must not have visited the site often- the last 2 to 3 years the Platinum and Gold “Rewards” were digital games, Golds being limited to 5$ NES games after having to spend $300 to reach Gold status, and what few physical rewards there were to choose from were pathetic. Who would waste 500 coins on 6 Animal Crossing postcards that the person receiving them would just toss them after one read?
The only really good thing to come from the last CN year was me being able to get a download of Star Fox 64 3D after my physical copy got stolen back in 2013. Outside of that, I was extremely disappointed, and many others here would say the same. In fact if you look below, some already have.

Be happy with the games you got, because I would have loved more games on there. We got VC games, sure. But the newer ones like you all got near the end would have been welcome to.
People complain about the postcards and how the others throw them away after one read. But you can just keep them as a little collectible? Put them in the back of some figurines or whatever. You all got cool looking posters, also would have loved those. I hope you all realise just how happy you should be they’re even sending you free stuff. Sure, cheap stuff made for even cheaper in china sometimes. But in the end it’s a big part of their profit margins they are giving up, just so whiny bitches like the most of you can cry how “Expensive” it all was. (You’re not paying one extra bit… You got the points with a game. It’s not like you paid any additional fees to get those points right?) Or how shitty they could be sometimes. (Nobody’s forcing you to get them, and again, it’s for free, it’s a service, it’s nothing mandatory!!!!!!!)

Exactly. You’re getting gifts for buying video games. I don’t see why people are complaining. Yeah the UK’s Club Nintendi had better rewards but that does mean NA’s was bad. I got myself 3 Smash Bros. poster and Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze FOR FREE. I’m more than happy.

Well, I guess the name change is because it’s more than a reward program. It’s “your” personal “Nintendo”, which you can interact with through many differemt platforms (and something something Nintendo Account)!
To add to what you said, in the future you will be able to edit friend relationships and other things too. My Nintendo will be one part of the Nintendo Account. They will add more to the Nintendo Account.
Cloud saves had better be part of it- I won’t even mind if I have to pay a buck or 2 every month to have it, as long as I can re-download Shovel Knight or Mario Kart 8 or Tomodachi Life for free if something happens to my systems.
They mentioned cloud saves in the presentation but didn’t go into much details.

Not just the name- it had to be marketed better, had killer exclusives out of the gate, more games used the Gamepad more interestingly than just a map…
Don’t get me wrong, I love the console and games like Splatoon, XCX, Mario Maker, but it could have been so much more.
Totally agree, it was very flawed. Great for Nintendo fans, though (in my opinion). Pikmin 3, WWHD/TPHD, Splatoon, Hyrule Warriors, best Smash, best (or one of the -) Mario Kart, Zelda U later… Just an amazing console in terms of software. I really feel like Nintendo didn’t let me down, even though the console always was doomed…
This is why I’m upset the Wii U isn’t selling more than what it is selling. It should be doing a hell of a lot better than this. But sadly, these Nintendolts like mediocrity. Poor slaves to the Evil Overlords at Nintendo.

As everyone is saying and hoping, I hope this rewards program is a LOT better than Club Nintendo was. Not to sound like a whiny nag, but us North Americans really got the royal screwjob with their idiotic rewards in those final months/years. The Japan (and even Europe) Club Nintendo always got those drool-worthy CD Soundtracks, awesome Mario Kart trophies, and other cool stuff. The North American Club Nintendo only got a few cool things during it’s run, such as the Game & Watch Ball handheld reproduction, Mr. Game & Watch 1 and 2 on DS, and a couple collectible figurines (which I missed out on).

I feel My Nintendo will be a big hit and the platform will be used for many things like advertisements, latest game info, social interaction, and of course the new reward system. I also see the app having the eshop on which allows you to purchase and view titles from your phone. If Nintendo did this right I see the Club Nintemdo being universal, which means we should all get the same rewards and benefits. We really need a Direct for clarification. Regardless, something to look forward to.
