Rumour: Hollywood To Launch A Big-Budget Pokemon Live-Action Movie

There’s a juicy rumour going round that originated from the Hollywood Reporter which suggests that we should expect a big-budget live-action movie based on the Pokemon franchise. It seems as though Legendary are the company that have been chosen with the task, however Warner Bros was among the early favorites to take on the project. As you might expect Legendary, Warner Bros and Sony declined to comment on the rumour.

    1. The Death Note movie is OK. So is the Ruronin Kenshin movie or that one movie with Tom Cruise or Oldboy (OK, they are based on mangas but still…)

  1. I’ve wondered for YEARS why they never made a live-action Pokémon movie. I’d like it much more if it was based on the original (early seasons) of the anime. With Ash, Misty and Brock. But I know it won’t, even if there IS a live-action movie. Then again, would anybody be happy with ANY of the choices they made for the cast? For that reason, it would probably be best to have all new people that are unknown.

  2. I they did really, REALLY good CG it might pass, like Star Wars quality CG or animatronics or something. If not… then we are looking at another Mario Bros. movie.

    1. Uwe Boll OR Michael Bay. If either of those guys get their hands on it, it’ll either be total crap or be entertaining but a terrible representation of the source material as it’s full of baysplosions & immature sex jokes.

  3. If they do start making this, I hope they don’t just take Ash and tell his story in movie form. All kinds of kids play these games, so I’d like to see some variety in the protagonist group.

  4. If this happens, I want James Earl Jones to voice Mewtwo! I mean, think how fans would react to the voice of Darth Vader voicing the most famous Legendary Pokémon!
