It’s been a little over a week since Star Fox made its Wii U debut with Star Fox Zero and Star Fox Guard. During their first few days on the market, both titles sold through about 30 percent of their initial shipment in Japan. The Star Fox Zero and Star Fox Guard bundle moved 17,114 units, while the former’s standalone release shifted another 8,135 copies. We’re still waiting to see how they performed in Western territories.
Star Fox For Wii U Sold Through 30 Percent Of Its Initial Shipment In Japan

Not even a third?
Go figure…
This crap didn’t even have online play.
I take it you have not played it.
Star Fox Guard has online so far, but Miyamoto said that its in his plans to add online.
Meh… that doesnt count. And I highly doubt they’ll add online play, they never did that with any game, at least not to my knowledge.
Aside from preparing the NX and its games for launch, which I sincerely hope and expect they’re doing, it’s not like they have anything else going on for the rest of the year. I’m sure it’s at least possible for them to spare some time to work on online support.
I love this game the 3D sound gives it the best sound on any game …enjoying it plenty with my siblings …having said that I really do not think I can pull off the incredible stunts you can do with it like the experts do on youtube who are 100%ing it.
Not a surprise. Star Fox sells mich better in the West.
I have this game and im really enjoying it so far. I hope it does well in the West.
Same here. Kinda surprised by all the negative revies. Some of them are kinda catastrophic.
Damn that is low but expected
I micht buy it when it’s around 25 euro
might* please give us an edit button :(
Star Fox Zero = Star Fox 64 HD + Horrible gimmick controls.
I’m not surprised at all.
Meant to reply to your post. See below.
As Bernadet said, if people are pulling off impressive stunts with those controls, they can hardly be called “horrible”.
Interesting, though there are people that are skilled enough to pull of anything with whatever they are provided at their disposal. The consensus seems to be that the majority of persons don’t like the controls. Someone at Kotaku (on their podcast) mentioned they had to prop up the gamepad on their leg or something to get the best experience playing on SFZ.
The main complaint I’ve heard is the extra effort required to switch between looking at the tv and gamepad. I haven’t had any problems with tit so far or with the controls in general. In any case, I don’t think you need to look at both of them anyway. You could use one or the other and get by just fine.
Not to mention, you can even play it like past Star Fox games just by not moving the gamepad at all.
*it, not tit. Although I haven’t had any problems with tit either lol.
Awesome save!
Not if the controls are broken. People dislike them because you need to multitask a little bit with them to experiment the depth of the game. It’s the exact same thing that has happened whenever a non-conventional control scheme is tied to an otherwise “canonically good” game. Happened with Monster Hunter, happened with Dark Souls and with other Platinum games before this (remember those W101 reviews?).
Besides that, I’m not surprised to read that the people at Kotaku have the hand-eye coordination of an autistic baboon.
-||This is one of the 3 primary reasons to why the Empire has been catering to the civilian masses the most overall-
-||More and more want easier and easier experiences that everyone lowers the difficulty in gaming||-
-||The Sonyans have gone so far that in the next generation, you would basically be buying semi-interactive movies on their consoles and these filth keeps eating up their waste so the hypocrites bashing the Empire are of course praising the other 2 for easy experiences and very short games||-
Yeah. I get that this is a business and studios need to reach the widest audience possible, but it doesn’t have to mean that every single game should appeal to everyone.
Perhaps because it is a confusing mess, nobody really knows what to think of it. A reboot? A rehash? Either way, its been what, a decade since the last real starfix game and they didn’t even release a new game? I think people who weren’t turned off by the control scheme were definitely turned off by $60 for a game we already played pretending to be a new game.
It’s as much of a rehash as every new Zelda and Mario game under the sun.
forced motion controls killed any interest I had in this. I love Starfox but I will NOT use motion control gimmicks. Period
As Sylux said, you can play the game the classic way simply by not moving the gamepad around. I actually did that for some of the tutorial just out of habbit.
lol embarrassing
I like the new controls a lot with the gamepad and multitaking between the tv and controller screens. It is a challenge which makes this game difficult. If it wasnt for these new controls, it be just a HD version of Starfox 64. My favorite vehicle is the one where you hack machines with. I wish they had more stages with that machine.
Also i like Starfox Guard too. I want it online where people are robots and Im the shooter. I also wouldnt mind being a robot too. I hope they think of that while the NX is currently in R&D. Both Starfox games are Epic and under rated like W101. I still have not unlocked all the stages yet. Hard as hell.
Even japan doesn’t want this rehashed garbage.
