After the recent controversy that was Street Fighter V, which was plagued with a number of issues, Capcom has confirmed that it plans to give future games more development time. Keno Tsujimoto, who is the company’s Chairman and CEO, told investors the reason for their forecasted dip in operating income is due to the company spending a little more time in developing and running a high-quality title that will perform well globally.
Capcom To Give Games More Development Time

Won’t change a thing unless they rethink the approach they’re taking to each individual franchise. They can’t survive off Monster Hunter and bad RE titles forever.
I haven’t played the others aside from Revelations 2 yet, but how exactly are the games bad? Bad compared to older Resident Evil titles? Because they don’t really look like bad games. I’ve seen worse.
Basically, they have a serious identity crisis. The mix of a horror setting with faux survival elements doesn’t really blend well with the over-the-top action. I mean, RE4 mixed those elements to great effect because it still managed to preserve an oppressive atmosphere through which they could be blended together, but these newer titles…
It’s not like they’re terrible from a technical standpoint (I enjoyed Revelations enough to get the Wii U version after beating it on 3DS), but a true comeback to the root of the series is long overdue. I had faith after Revelations, but it’s hard to be optimistic after 6.
Worst of all, Capcom knows there’s an audience for the older survival horror style, or they wouldn’t have remastered those titles. Hopefully the RE2 remake will be worth it.
A remake of Resident Evil 2 & Nemesis will be welcomed since I haven’t played them. Nor do I intend to play the originals. I waited way too long to try those because they look so outdated now.
I don’t think they’ve aged that badly, at least graphically speaking. They’re some of the best looking realistic games on the PS1. Just compare them to the graphical mess that is FFVII.
Same with Code Veronica since it seems like a main game even though it wasn’t a numbered entry.
I fucking hate Code Veronica. What a travesty of a game, pun intended.
What was wrong with it exactly?
Everything. Camera angles, music, BOWs, length, plot, everything.
The thing that bugged me about RE Revelations (the first one) is those stupid sort of zombies that they put in the game (similar to the regenerators from RE4, but different. I can’t think of how to explain them. But there’s far too many of them). I would have actually preferred more traditional zombies. I always felt that traditional zombies were more scary than all the other crazy types they created. Although the regenerators freaked me out.
I also thought it was a bit dragged out how the entire game took place on one ship. I’d love to see a RE4 style of game with a huge open world to explore. Not something where you’re trapped in one building/house or ship the entire time.
RE4 had PNRs up to its ass. If anything, you mean like RE1/REmake.
It’s easy to see now that Resident Evil 4 was a huge fluke. RE5 was a piss-poor single player game, but it was actually a lot of fun multiplayer. As Nintendo Military Strategist Sylux said though, the franchise has a severe identity crisis. Revelations was good on 3DS because everyone’s expectations for it were tempered enough that its stupid story and campy characters weren’t enough to bring it down. The HD ports of Revelations were poorly done, however. None of the older games have aged well (to the point that they’re almost unplayable) and RE6 was an utter disaster.
I guess the only positive thing I can say is that they at least acknowledge that they obviously rushed SFV.
Glad they’re finally starting to get it. Now if only they had given their consoles more development time, they’d still be in the business.
Capcom had consoles? What consoles? I’ve been gaming since the 80s and never heard this. I’m intrigued.
Uh-oh. Don’t I look like a complete idiot? For some strange reason I was thinking Sega, not Capcom. Well clearly I have to go take a nap now. Lol Sickr, if you are capable of deleting my previous comment I would be grateful. Thanks.
I had a feeling you meant Sega, but I didn’t want to assume haha. I may have been gaming a long time, but there is plenty I don’t know about, so I figured maybe Capcom could have had consoles in Japan or something that I just never heard about.
The CP Systems, of course!
(He must have been thinking of Sega)
All i want is an Moneter Hunter NX game, with a giant overworld, huge monsters, good story, and stunning graphics. I would eat that up!
Capcom’s made that already. It’s called Dragon’s Dogma.
Ah i see, well then make another one for the NX capcom!
I don’t regret getting SFV day one. The fact that it has the best netcode for an online fighting game i’ve ever played is enough for me. Sure I could have waited a year to get it with loads more content but then I’d be fighting people with a year of experience ahead of me. No thanks lol
Ha, hearing that out of Capcom’s mouth is just as shocking as my girlfriend “coming out”.
I think I’ll probably get a lot of hate for this….
Lol I don’t see why you should. That would shock me too.
If Capcom weren’t stupid, it would have never cancelled Megaman Legends 3. The SOLE reason I bought a 3DS. I am still so pissed at them for that. So pissed.
While that is good & all, it doesn’t matter if Resident Evil can’t make up it’s mind if it wants to continue to be survival horror or if it wants to be a god damn Call of Duty clone but with monsters.

Well, good. Because I’ve heard hardly anything good about SFV because it was put out in such an incomplete state.
There’s actually a LOT of games that would have been much better if they had more development time. There’s too many companies that are in a rush to make a quick buck.
HALL A F*CKIN LU YA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Capcom ACTUALLY used their brains, instead of their graphs, charts and laser pointers. People…we may see less than four versions of ONE title from now on!
