Nintendo Embraces The “What Are Those?” Meme

One of the latest memes Nintendo has been using is “What are those?,” which refers to the immediate reaction of someone who notices another person’s unconventional choice for shoes. Nintendo’s take on the meme is portrayed through a Super Smash Bros. for Wii U screenshot, which depicts a knelt-down Lucina gazing at Corrin‘s visible feet. Check out the screenshot for yourself in the tweet below:

Thanks, now I finally get the meme!

  2. At least in those Fire Emblem titles the characters do have complete legs and feet. I would get astonished if Nintendo managed to do this same meme using Awakening characters.

  3. And stupid shit like this is why I keep updating my PS4 game list while my Wii U and Wii list shrink from my shelves like Nintendo place in a GameStop.

They need to go back to their Snes and N64 days. After those systems, it was straight fucking down hill.

    1. It’s not their fault that fans keep inventing this shit and they can’t stay in those days cause they want to see how modern people are like these days and they like to try new gimmicks and those keeping coping the same thing over again

      1. Come on dude, let’s be honest with each other for one second. How much does Nintendo have in money? Billions, yes? You’re telling me that you can’t hire people to follow trends and market better? Or are the only people capable of doing this are Sony and Microsoft? Mind you, Nintendo use to do that against Sega back in the day. Am I missing something or is it just because Nintendo is ran by old idiots that still live in 1999.

    1. It was a Vine meme. They’re all awful in one way or another. Most Vine memes revolve around the lack of intelligence possessed by ‘Viners’. This is why I avoid it like the plague.

  4. That “meme” is probably recognized by only 10 people on this planet. And all of them are women.

    1. Or when a TV show think that using a meme as humor is funny. That’s exactly why the Powerpuff Girls reboot should never exist.

      1. DON’T BRING THAT CRAP IN HERE!!!!!

I’m still angry at Cartoon Network for rebooting the series WITHOUT the original cast (and I’m talking about the ones who mattered.

      1. No, blame Nintendo for being too stupid to get it right. And blame Nintendo for trying to be hip. How can you be cool when you fucking can’t even make games that are fun anymore. A.K.A : Star Fox!

  5. You guys should be blaming yourselves cause people like you guys are the reason why Nintendo uses memes in the first place also how come get upset when Nintendo uses them but sega gets a free pass

    1. I don’t follow Sega that closely, so I don’t know how dead the memes are by the time they use them. I’ll remember to get annoyed at them as well next time they try to be ‘down with the kids’.

When we tell you to be more modern with the internet, Nintendo, we don’t mean embrace stupid memes. We mean stop putting copyright claims on people’s let’s plays of your games.
