  1. I don’t buy a lot on the eShop because I don’t have an external hard drive for my Wii U and there’s no room, ive even had to delete quite a few games to download more. Plus we’re seemingly near the end of its life cycle and there aren’t many big releases. Whenever there are, I buy them physical now. As many games as I’ve bought for Wii U its a shame they don’t reward physical purchases anymore…

    1. Not only that, but wasting “MyNin” currency on things like discounts is near- brainless. The MN discounts are only toward one game, at full price, digital only.
Amazon and Bestbuy have better discounts/rewards on all games, Digital and Physical — plus the games are usually not at full price ( more savings). Another point, would be, digital content not being re-salable; considering the WiiU is a dying console, it would suck to have wasted money on a game you dont play anymore/dont like or would like to sell.

This is even more nerve raking because the MN currency actually expire… I have not seen anything that sparks my interest; I haven’t even spent any coins since this site launched. Now I have to force myself to by something stupid before my currency expires.

    1. You have to buy games of the virtual console or on your 3DS in order to get Gold Coins to download other stuff. See the set up there? That’s why I choose not to download or buy. It’s you buying stuff to think you are getting free stuff.

      1. I’ve never bought digital when I could buy physical and I’m pretty sure I never will. I’m still hoping that this whole rewards points only for digital purchases thing is temporary. When the NX comes out Nintendo better offer points for physical purchases. They would be stupid not to.

        1. Diggity for me is when it is free and I have space. If not, its a no go. Disc are my go to for games, but I want to see what Nintendo does with this move

  2. Never thought I would miss the usually disappointing Club Nintendo reward selection. Coupons that make non resellable games still more expensive that buying a resellable used copy of games isn’t very rewarding.

  3. It’s incredible how the rewards keep getting worse each month (except Nintendo decided to just plain old skip updating the US rewards in June). The only worthwhile things that I can see are the New Super Luigi U DLC (although, it requires WAY too many gold coins, should be around 130 or 120, imo) and Wario Land 3 is a fantastic game, but what are the odds that die hard Nintendo fans don’t already have these pretty common Nintendo games?

Sure, some get very well-rewarded with the system (typically those who buy mostly digital), but others get little-to-nothing (those who don’t buy digital because they don’t have space on their console). They need to possibly have a complete catalogue of all Nintendo games on the eShop that one can purchase with Gold Coins (or Platinum Coins) at any time, and maybe they should have discounted items each month.

Also, Platinum Coins are downright useless at this point, Nintendo. Discounts and themes aren’t enough to make me want to keep checking on the eShop, Miiverse, and Miitomo almost every day. We need a way to convert maybe a large amount of Platinum Coins to Gold Coins (maybe 400 Platinum Points equals 10 Gold Coins? Anything less would feel too little, and anything more would feel too expensive).

    1. Gold coins would make sense if you got them for buying physical games. Nintendo wants you to buy digital to increase they selling numbers, but it makes no sense because buying digital is more costly on their market with no resell value. Club Nintendo gave me free stuff for buying their games.

  4. Nintendo First Order Commander Quadraxis

    ||If the reward system doesn’t change when the NX arrives, then there isn’t much point in this my Lords, unless you raise the sales by another 10-15% each…||

  5. The rewards are so lame! Such dissapointment. Especially for coupons of games that I already own, so what’s the point?

I’m really bummed because there’s no rewards for Platinum points aside from discounts and Miitomo accessories. What happened to WarioWare’s replacement? Shouldn’t they make a new game available that should replace WarioWare? But no.

I have over 1000 Platinum points just laying around. What’s even worse is that the points will expire in one or two months. By the time they release something good, my points already expired. Such a failure!

But then, I don’t want my points to be completely wasted, so guess I’ll be forced to buy Miitomo tickets. At least it’s something, but I want free games that I don’t own. I don’t mind digital rewards, but c’mon! These rewards just suck and are pathetic!

  6. These incentives aren’t very good. Why should I spend $60 to buy a game digitally and get a free $6 game with it, when I can just buy the first game physically for $10 or $20 off on Amazon and use that money to buy whatever digital games or DLC I want? This is really only good for people who buy a lot of games digitally anyway.

The discounts are a little better, since you don’t have to spend real money to earn platinum coins… but they rarely make the games a real bargain, since they’re very overpriced to begin with compared to retail.

If the rewards program 1) worked with retail games, 2) gave exclusive rewards you couldn’t get elsewhere, and/or 3) were more significant (I’m talking 50-60% off), this would be better. Also, if you ARE going to give small deals like 15-30% off, make them available store-wide, don’t make us pick from a narrow selection of games we all already own!

    1. If Nintendo made a thread, I would post that shit on it in a heart beat. Your logic is sound and it makes me wonder how smart or sound Nintendo’s logic is these days.

  7. Talk about underwhelming rewards here.
And it’s even more underwhelming for people like me who aren’t getting the virtual console games North America is getting. I mean I’m pretty sure there’s someone in Europe that would want something like Wario Land 3 or the first Mario Kart 8 DLC pack to use their Gold Coins on instead of something like Pilotwings.

  8. On the brazilian My Nintendo we only have the Link and Bravely Second themes and the Twilight Princess Picross this week. I don’t get it. We had all the 3DS rewards until the last update. In this one, there’s finally some game discounts I want and they’re not available in my region.

  10. I mean, I’m happy I can have access to a lot of stuff through spamming the crap out of miitomo, that’s pretty nice, but they really need to start tossing codes into physical releases. I buy most of my games digitally, but when I decide to cave in for a collector’s edition, like I did with Bravely Second, it would have been nice to get a My Nintendo code card, at least for an equal number of points to buying the digital version from the eshop.

  11. I’m still totally shocked at the major suckage of this new rewards system. It’s an absolute joke compared to how cool Club Nintendo used to be (before it started sucking the same way). Even though I was often upset because the Europe and Japan Club Nintendo had better rewards. If this new My Nintendo rewards thing never gets physical items, I’ll never support it. I wish that everyone would stop supporting it so that Nintendo would get a hint that it SUCKS!

  12. With every month of mediocre, almost pointless deals that passes, my hopes for this new program diminish. And knowing my luck, when they finally do put up something I want, I won’t have the coins to get it because they expired.

“Oh cool, Xenoblade Chronicles is 50 percent off with 600 coins! Lemme just log into My Nintendo and get the code for it aaaaaaand it’s gone!”

  13. Another underwhelming rewards program from Nintendo. A bunch of coins and nothing great to spend them on. No Physical rewards. At this point I don’t care if I lose my coins. Nothing worth while to spend them on. :P

  14. Wow! The games they got discounts for are games I already fucking own! This is Club Nintendo’s last few months all the fuck over again! This better improve when NX comes out or they can take My Nintendo & fucking shove it.
