Pokemon GO developer Niantic is looking for new ways to make even more money from the super popular Pokemon GO and what better way to do so than to have sponsored locations in the mobile title for various brands. Niantic is used to this as it is something they have been testing in their other AR game, Ingres. The Financial Times says that with Pokemon Go advertisers would be charged for every customer visiting a store.
“There is a second component to our business model at Niantic, which is this concept of sponsored locations.” – Chief Executive John Hanke

Like the Holocaust Museum? (Seriously, some people went there specifically for to catch a Pokemon or get to a Pokestop.)
It is just a building
A building you should go to to honor the dead that died during WW2, not to catch some stupid virtual animal. So not just any building.
It is just a building. Any museum could hold a similar designation. If it were, let’s say Auschwitz or the Anne Frank house, that might be a little different. Not much different, but I would give it to you… It is just people having fun, no one gets hurt, not a big deal at all.
Now if they bought a ticket and stayed for the museum, that’s a different story.
Unlike Ingress, Pokemon Go already had a huge following that gushes over all things Pokemon. So I imagine it wouldn’t be hard at all to attain sponsors for something like that, and on top of that could easily be used by merchandising companies to unload a whole bunch of pokemon stuff, especially if they do any sort of manufacturing on gear useful towards gameplay (ie; Umbrellas, Portable chargers, Hats, Team buttons/patches, or even windbreakers)
I say go for it, it doesn’t cost the us a thing, and we don’t even need to be in most establishments to claim the pokemon, so free money for niantic
If PKMN GO gets ads, the cost to get them on there should be more than a super bowl commercial!
I don’t see ads coming, as Ingress doesn’t have them.
It’s two very different advertising schemes.
Yah, there would be alot of rage if PKMN GO got ads. I was speaking hypothetically.
Zelda Breath of the Wild was the game of the show at E3, Pokemon GO is on fire! Nintendo is turning it around! Perfect time to show the NX!
I don’t think all the users of Go make the connection from Poke to Ninty. A lot of them are casuals on the hype train.
Basically probably something like “Go to your nearest Game Stop location for a chance to get _____!”
