GAME CEO Gives His Opinion Of The Nintendo Switch

We’ve heard impressions from big and smaller developers about the recently unveiled Nintendo Switch console, but how about retailers? Well the CEO of UK video game retailer GAME, Martyn Gibbs, has been contacted and has given his opinion of the device which is sure to be a vital part of the retailers plans for next year.

As today’s teaser video demonstrates, the SWITCH is another example of Nintendo differentiating its gaming experiences to appeal to a broad array of gamers. Nintendo has consistently developed home consoles and handheld gaming to see its beloved and engaging games and characters deliver ultimate fun and enjoyment. SWITCH is clearly taking some of the best features of handheld and home consoles and merging them into a fantastic new way to play. We will be bringing more details to our customers as soon as possible.

  1. For those who aren’t interested in the handheld part you don’t have to ever take it out of the station, and you can just treat it as a home console, well that’s how I look at it. I’m sold on the NS, this is a day one buy for me, and I was one of the individuals who were salty at first about the crossbreed platform. It’s like a Vita and Nintendo console combined, but without the ps games that is.

Just think about what could have been if Nintendo had stuck with Sony for a new console leading up to right now, we could have had a psvita/3ds/NS hybrid monster, with all of the games released on for both party’s platforms.

  2. I have an assignment that we received this morning where we have to write a negative business letter. Perfect timing Nintendo. I didn’t even have to think about what I would write about.

    To our loyal customers,

We extend our deepest gratitude for your continued support and gaming on our Wii U home entertainment console. For over 30 years, we have provided new and innovative ways to play video games. Without your sustained support, we would not have been able to stay in the video game business.

As stated, we here at Nintendo are always trying to put out new and exciting ways to interact with video games. Not all of our ventures are as successful as the others. The Wii U console has not lived up to our expectations. Third party and first party games did not perform as we had hoped.

Regrettably, it is with that thought in mind that we will be discontinuing our sales and support to our Wii U console. While there are many great games available on this system, we have not garnered the expected sales numbers we envisioned with this venture. We apologize for those who had hoped for the console to live on a few more years.

As briefly shown yesterday, we have our newest console coming out, called the Nintendo Switch. This new system will allow for home and portable gaming in one device. We hope you and your gaming allies will continue to enjoy the many amazing gaming experiences we have currently offer. Join us in March 2017 and make the “Switch!”

    Sincerely,

        1. Ah, too bad. Would have been pretty nice if you were allowed to use the name in the actual submission too. :p
Nonetheless, glad you added Luigi Mario on here though, made my day better. :)
