According to a French Nintendo rep, every copy of Breath of the Wild will feature the option to use Japanese voice acting instead the game’s native language. While we can’t be certain if this is true, it would be an awesome feature for Nintendo to include in the upcoming game. It’s always nice to be able to choose between the English dub or the original Japanese when playing through a dialogue heavy game. Is this a feature you’d like to see. Tell us below.
Nice! I might go for English anyway (I slightly preferred the English voices in the trailer), but this is great for people who want it!
Basically yes
Yeah, but I might play in JP at some point.
…Since I dont understand JP, the voice acting would mirror the sensation of characters’ jibberish like MIDNA — only this time it will have full emotion and character.
Eh
Yessss
I love Japanese voices!!
People get so bent out of shape over this. I don’t care about the Japanese voices but woe betide the game that doesn’t come with Japanese voice overs. People will act an ass till they get their damn voices.
I thought the English voices sounded the best from the trailers. But this is a good option for those who only ever want Japanese.
Please God Please
I hope there’s a option where they grunt moan groan and hiss like the past ones. For zelda reasons . Not that I’m against the voice acting
It looks like most of the talking will be grunts. We’ve only seen cutscenes being voice acted thus far.
You like to hear moaning, eh? ;)
You got the Yoshi guy started again. lol
Lol XD
Yes! I would’ve been fine with only having the English voiceovers, but I really liked the Japanese trailer. It just felt like there was more emotion in it than the English one.
Good I need that I’m #1 weeaboo.
English voices or Japanese voices – It’s really strange discussion in terms of Zelda game, it you think about it
Lol Right? A year ago we were arguing about whether Zelda games shoild have voice acting or not. Now we have to argue about what language the voice acting should be.
If I didn’t have to worry about being falsely reported, I’d so go on Miiverse & celebrate voice acting in Zelda just to really annoy people that hated the idea there! *dark laugh*
Lol I forget about miiverse now until someone mentions it and I’m happy about that :p
This was always the same shitty scenario with things like anime and other Japanese games.
So it’s nothing really new.
Can we have a dub of Japanese people speaking English? ;)
Awesome
YES PLEASE
i love my weeb anime cries but zelda speaking japanese will fuck me up i dont know what to do
I must be honest, the English voice-over is so bad in this game, especially the old woman in the trailer who doesn’t sound old at all compared to the Japanese voice.
I think it is Great! Matter of opinion. Cant please then all….,
I’ve always been against voice-acting so at least with Japanese I won’t be able to detect a bad performance as easily. It won’t feel like Zelda is from Westminster, London and takes the Jubilee line to work.
Do you mean against all together or against voice acting in Zelda?
The japanese and mexican voices are amazing compared to the english one, it doesn’t have the feeling the game gives when playing it on english dub like the part where she cries. Mexican and japanese it will be for me lol.
If the massive difference in voice acting quality seen in the trailer is indicative of the final game, then the option to use Japanese voices is an absolute must for this game.
Please let this be true.
the english and german voice acting is for Zelda is horrid(even though is despise german voice acting in general).
So if japanese is an option I will gladly take it.
Does link finally talk ? Or is he still disabled ?
If he does talk, I suspect it’ll be saved for the end of the game for shock value.
It’ll be original Metroid-levels of “WHAT!?” if that’s the case, methinks.
Personally, I think he should hang onto his selective mutism.
Is it really proper to call it the “original” Japanese anymore? Nintendo games now more than ever are developed for a global audience and more people will play it in English than ever will Japanese.
It is exactly proper to call it original Japanese. The game was made by Japanese, IN Japanese. The other languages come after it, but the cut scenes are made with the Japanese voices in mind, not the others. The others do what they can to fit in as best they can. Doesn’t matter if only one person in the whole world plays it in Japanese, it is still originally Japanese.
Japanese voices ftw. The north american trailer was pretty meh with that voices. Zelda didnt even cry, just a “ahh…” noise!
I didn’t even watch the English trailer… So I can’t tell you yet.
Yes this is a feature I’d love to have. I’d like to play the game a second time through using Japanese dubbing. Since it will most likely include subtitles, I can just read the English subs if I don’t remember what they were saying from my first play-through.
I’m entirely fine to see they have voice acting now. It’s about time. On the other hand, it must have text to read during, it’s part of Zelda, period. Just never ever ever ever never ever ever never ever allow Link to talk. We are Link, it’s a story, keep it like that.
I’m open to voice acting in BotW- just ask me to provide my voice next time, I will not refuse! XD
Jokes (and pipe dreams) aside, I hope they cast the right people for the right roles- like a friend of mine once put it, “you wouldn’t cast Jim Carrey as Ganondorf for a Zelda movie, would you?”
This would be cool. But, who in their right mind would want to hear a game speak in a language they can’t understand?
I like the way Princess Zelda once again looks like a regular girl in this. That’s why I liked the Skyward Sword Princess Zelda. It always annoyed me a bit when she acts too mystical, magical, and mysterious. And rarely talks.
Ya she’s only the personification of a goddess. who the hell does she think she is being mystical, magical, or mysterious.
Is it just me or is the same voice actress doing the different languages!? o.O
Haha it seems like it for some of them. I feel like I wanna play the game in both languages lol. I like how the Japanese Zelda cries (shit I felt her pain during the presentation) but I also like the english voice that says “Open your eyes”
I like how Zelda sounds British in the English version… but the Japanese voice did put more emotion into the part where she cries into Link’s arms. :/ Like another said above, can I play the game with Japanese voice actors speaking in English!? D:
Mike S I believe said that, and I think that would be funny hahaha
thanks for sharing the youtubelink about the language comparision / didn’t knew there was a german
version.
the janapse voice is (like every time in animes and so on …) more emotional.
the english text / translation is a good translation .. and i also love the voice that says “Open your eyes”.
The german voices (that’s my native language) don’t match the characters.
If I hear the king of hyrule – i want to hear a strong, old, male voice and not the voice of a “boy”.
Also the german translation could be done a little bit better.
