Nintendo fans have longed for a system where if you purchase a game on the eShop then it’ll appear on your Nintendo account and not just the console it is downloaded on. Thankfully, due to the recent unboxing video of the Nintendo Switch, an eagle-eyed viewer has spotted some interesting information which confirms that the dream is now about to become a reality.
Would you take a look at this: Purchases from the eShop are tied to your Nintendo Account. pic.twitter.com/SyC1BIZm0V

It reads:
Your Nintendo Account contains your Nintendo eShop purchase history and current balance. By re-linking your Nintendo Account after initializing the console, it will be possible to redownload any software or DLC purchased using that account. (Software that has been discontinued may not be available to redownload in some cases.)
It’s still unconfirmed as to whether Virtual Console titles will be included but we can only hope.
Here’s hoping my 3DS/WiiU purchases are somehow part of this.
Me too.

I think they are talking about Nintendo Network ID right?
Wow, they finally made the change we’ve been asking for, for years now.
Lol yeah, Nintendo is always 10 years behind on everything. It’s cute when they catch up on things. It’s like watching a child take their first steps.
JOYCONS 10 YRS BEHIND
SOLID STATE FAST LOADING CARDS 10 YRS BEHIND
HYBRID CONSOLE 10 YRS BEHIND
ASDVANCEDC 9 AXIS GYRO 10 YRS BEHIND
3D TOUCH SCREEWN 10 YRS BEHIND

NINTERNDO APP ACOSS DEVICES AND LINKED TO SWITCH AND SMART DEVICES 10 YRS BEHIND
HD RUMBLE 10 YRS BEHIND
DUALSHOCK AND A BOX UNDER THE TV NOT BEHIND
NOW RUN ALONG YOU IDIOT
SWITCH MOST ADVANCED CUTTINF EDGE GAMING SYSTEM EVER CREATED BUT ITS 10 YRS BEHIND TO YOU
AND DUALSHOCK ISNT 25 YR OL;D TRASH AND SOPINNING DISCS ARE NOT THE 90S
Joy cons are just wii motes, nobody wants to control games with motion control and its been like that for 10 years now.
Games on flash cards have been around for years…
Its a portable console with a “super gameboy dock”
Gyro is retarded for controlling games, maybe mario kart is ok I guess.
Their touch screen isnt even oled. It’s so old..
HD rumble adds nothing to real gamers
This sytem is about as cutting edge as the ouya
Breath of the wild, splatoon 2, yooka laylee, mario odessey, mario kart 8, possibly skyrim, sonic mania, sonic 2k17, arms, snipperclips, and anything esle I missed looks like so much fun. That’s why I am getting a switch.
Right now i’m getting it for Zelda, MK8 Battlemode, Mario.O and ill probably pick up Bomberman sometime but I did cancel my pre order of it. I’ve finished Skyrim completely so I wont get that.
I don’t much care for many of the things you listed, but I gotta disagree with gyro controls. They have been such a welcome edition to Zelda games for aiming e.g. the hookshot, bow, etc.
Well at least somebody likes them. I cant stand them for anything other then Mario Kart and Wii sports , didn’t think of that last one until now. I went to buy Splatoon around launch but before I did I demoed it at best buy and it used Gyro to aim and I turned around and walked out of the store. I didn’t know that you could disable gyro controls at the time. I heard you couldn’t disable Gyro with Starfox so I didn’t pick up that title either.
I want to control games with motion, and I consider myself a real gamer that expects HD rumble a lot, any problem?
You’re in the minority then. Which console’s do you own? Also, Do you like motion controls and rumble so much that you would rather Nintendo put the cost into those instead of providing a system that is up to date spec wise?
If it allows them to make good titles that utilize them, then yes. Nintendo have a vision for their games around their hardware and they’re usually good. I’m a retro collector with pretty much everything from the 4th gen on except Sony stuff (Sega, Microsoft, Nintendo). I like motion controls, gyro aiming, and am intrigued by the HD rumble. It doesn’t make one any less of a gamer to feel that way. Also, I really, really don’t care that their consoles aren’t as powerful as their competitors’. If I wanted three of the same consoles, then sure, that’d be nice. I want Nintendo for their exclusives and I’ll get multiplats elsewhere. Even if they come to Switch, I’d probably get them elsewhere because they will be more definitive.
I am excited about the Switch because it’s the handheld I’ve always wanted. I don’t care about the other features….though I wish it had better battery life.
That would have been good. Alot of people wish that. Although, I wont be using it at all on the go so the battery life doesn’t bother me much. They should have had mic jacks on the joycon grip and the pro controller though. I’m not sure if you can even Xgame chat with this phone app they are forcing you to use.
Battery life is 2.5 – 6.5 hours. It’s pretty standard for a handheld. Sony claimed the PS Vita Slim was up to 6 hours of playtime, while Nintendo listed the New 3DS XL as 3.5 – 7 hours. There really is no difference, considering the games on Switch will be bigger and significantly more visually demanding.
HOW IS THIS NEWS WE KNEW ABOUT NINTENDO ACCOUNTS LONG BEFORE THE SWITCH
FAST GETTING SICK OF CLICKBAITING
FAST GETTING SICK OF DUMB ASS GAMERS
I’m getting sick of your broken caps button
Well that was rude. It could be a broken shift key.
Shut up
If this hints at a universal account system a la Steam, THIS is what we’ve been waiting for.
Fucking finally.
your nintendo ID already kinda does this but hey if it means I won’t have to purchase stuff multiple times than good job nintendo.
No, they don’t.
Format your system and unlink your NNID, then attempt to redownload with a relinked NNID to the system. Then try to prove it wrong.
I think they are talking about Nintendo Network ID right?
A Nintendo account is separate from a Nintendo Network ID, though they can be linked and you can log into your Nintendo account through your Nintendo Network ID (similarly to how you would log in through Facebook or Gmail or etc).

Oh your right dude and I read the link. So honestly, both my Nintendo and Nintendo Network ID accounts are the same thing is that correct?.
If you linked them.
Oh OK I see.
I would wait before rejoyce.
If this means my shit won’t be fucking console locked, yay! It’s about god damn fucking time! Welcome to cloud gaming, Nintendo!
The amount of expletives you use is quite outstanding.
I started cussing at around the age of 9 or 10. Like smoking, it’s become an addiction! xD
Addictions are what makes the world go round!
Of course, I can hold back when I’m in a place that would highly frown on it like Miiverse or church.
On the Wii U they WERE linked to your account.
I don’t understand why people still don’t get this. If you can see games you bought for the Wii U in your purchase history on the 3DS, then it IS linked with your account. The problem was that your account could only be linked to one console and one handheld at a time and you had to call Nintendo to move your account to a different console or handheld.
The right way to word it is that accounts can be linked, un-linked, and re-linked by users now.
About freaking time. After learning the hard way with my Wii, spending hundreds of dollars on digital downloads and then not being able to redownload them on another system, I stopped supporting Nintendo downloads. Only games I would get on Nintendo systems were physical. If it’s true that you can re-download your games on another system with your account, this is the best thing Nintendo could have done in ages; everyone else has been doing it.
