Today’s Pokemon GO Fest didn’t go too well, but the game itself is about to get a big addition. The very first Legendary Pokemon, Lugia, is coming. Pokemon GO Fest attendees will get it for free, and Lugia will begin to appear in raid battles all over the world for players within the next 48 hours. Lugia will be a Flying/Psychic type. Niantic also announced that, since Team Mystic won the Mystery Challenge that was running during today’s event, Articuno will be the next Legendary to be added. No release date was given on Articuno’s release, but they did explain how obtaining Legendary Pokemon will work:
As Trainers around the world go out and explore their neighborhoods in search of Pokémon and Raid Battles, they can keep an eye out for unique Legendary Eggs appearing at Gyms. If Trainers and their team are able to successfully defeat a Legendary Raid Boss, they’ll have the opportunity to catch a Legendary Pokémon of their own! While Legendary Pokémon will help them take on the toughest Raid Bosses and Gym Battles, they’re not willing to leave their Trainer’s side, so they can’t be left to defend Gyms.
