Zelda Breath Of The Wild Gets Free Side Quest For Crossover Promo For Xenoblade 2

Hidden in today’s PR statement from Nintendo comes news that there’s a free side quest for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild as part of a crossover promo for the upcoming Xenoblade Chronicles 2 which launches on the Nintendo Switch on December 1st. Here’s the details we’ve recieved so far about it:

In Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Blades are artificial lifeforms that bond with Drivers to lend them their weapons and powers in battle. Main character Rex is a Driver and Pyra is a Blade. To help familiarize fans with main character Rex before the game launches, a new Side Quest will be available via a free update in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild game for both Nintendo Switch and Wii U systems, in which players will be able to obtain a Rex costume starting on Nov. 9.

      1. Retarded? Or maybe he just didn’t like BotW & thought it sucked. Like how you think Skyward Sword sucks. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

      1. While I still have my copy, personally I got very bored with BOTW. While it sold a huge amount, not everyone loved it. I loved it for the first like ten hours, but as I got deeper and deeper I really liked it less and less. So I can see why someone would sell it. I am not saying it’s a bad game, but it and the Legend of Zelda 2: Link’s Adventure are the only two main console Zelda games I will never replay. All others I have played multiple times. Again, just my personal opnions on the game. But if this other poster also did not enjoy the game that much, he or she most likely doesn’t care about any additional story, especially since it is DLC, which you have to pay for. And why pay for extra content if you already didn’t really enjoy the game all that much.

      2. There will always be people who does not like generally considered “good things” (and people who will like “bad things”, like Sonic 06 or Hotel Mario), so I’m neither surprised to come across someone like that, nor am I dismissing either of your opinions…
However, it is a strange concept, to draw full conclusions from something you have not seen the full extent of, as I see it.

  1. Does no one think it is disturbing that the season pass is on sale before the game is even out yet?! Not even Ubisoft, EA, or Activision were brazen enough to sell dlc/season passes before their damn games launched, they at least had the decency to wait until release day of the game they’re trying to milk customers over with their day 1 dlc!

    1. I hear you -BUT- this game will be a content beast. It will offer you a lot of gameplay value for your hard earned cash. In such a case I really like to see the roadmap for the additional content and the pricing for it in advance. I appreciate that this game will be a complete package that offers a ton of value even without the additional content. I wouldn’t call it milking when the core game is already so packed with stuff to do.

    2. xD The season pass for Assassin’s Creed Origins was available to pre-order along with the actual game for months on PS4. Nintendo is trash sometimes for a lot of things but this isn’t one of them.

  2. Nice way to promote games. They should do sidequests for every release. Would be an excuse for the bad fetch questsfor the euipment in the 1st DLC. Although titles like Splatoon or Mario Odyssey would demand a more weird Zelda game like Links Awakening :)

  3. Available tomorrow through a free update, eh? I guess I’ll look out for it if I use my Switch.
