Monster Hunter World Directors Once Again Comment On Lack Of Switch Version

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One fans will have the chance to play the final version of Monster Hunter World later this month, but sadly, Nintendo Switch only gamers won’t have a chance to participate in the action. Capcom has once again commented on the lack of a Nintendo Switch version and have stated that it has been in development for four years.

We don’t have any plans for the Switch at the moment. Part of the reason is that the title has been in development for almost 4 years. At the time we had to commit to our hardware choices, we decided on using the most powerful current generation consoles available at the time, which was Playstation 4 and Xbox One. So [the decision was made] before the Switch was even announced or on sale.

It’s also because for every title we decide what the best fit for hardware is for the concept. We don’t just look at everything. It’s more like “if we want to achieve this kind of game concept, where’s the best place to achieve that?” and for this title the Playstation 4 and Xbox One were the best fit for us.

    1. Actually, he says a lot, and being honest, direct and convincing
“At the time we had to commit to our hardware choices, we decided on using the most powerful current generation consoles available at the time, which was Playstation 4 and Xbox One” He’s saying they decided to give people what they want. Graphics. The best fit, he clearly states.

So explicitly he’s also saying Switch is underpowered, and they took a decision before Switch was a successful console.

I don’t know what you were expecting, he’s pretty clear and direct.

      1. he didn’t say the switch was underpowered. he said the wiiU was underpowered (when they started working on the game the switch was nowhere on the horizon). he also says they have no plans for it “AT THE MOMENT” which generally means we are working on it for launch sometime later this year.

      2. In other words, more lies. XX is right fucking there and they still refuse to localize it or even update the Jp port with English and done deal.

    2. The four years of development kind of says that other monster hunter games have been in development during this games and nothing’s stopping a new switch game with the way the switch is selling, right?

      1. Like every other moronic third party out there. Their loss because the fans would just lose hope and interest with them later after BS like this which had no reason for neglect.

    3. All they’re saying is “We’re still too inept to see the highly popular Switch outselling every console ATM and that it’s potential for portability will skyrocket the sales in US/EU/JP but we’re also still busy kissing Sony’s broke ass for whatever forgiveness”

  1. I mean it was kind of obvious since they started on MH5 when MH4 (not the ultimate version) was in development. I bet if Switch was around the 1st year or 2 of dev, then it probably wuld’ve been much easier to make for the system. Probably wuldnt b as grand as the title we are getting now for X1/PS4/PC, but I still wuld’ve bought it. Maybe thts y they ported MHXX to Switch (with HD textures/particle effects added) so Nintendo hunters wuldnt feel left out. Im still hopeful for a MHXX localization after console or PC release of MHW. But im not getting my hopes up too much bc I dont want to disappoint myself. lol

  2. I think it’s a bit ridiculous of some people to expect every single game to be able to come to the Switch. The most demanding games simply won’t be able to find their way onto a small tablet-like device. It’s not always the fault of the developers.

    1. Well monster hunter world is not even a demanding game. I hope the full release looks better than the beta because I’m not impressed with the graphics on the Pro. I would take portability over graphics on any game.

      1. To be fair the monster hunter games have never been graphically impressive only decent at best. It’s pretty much all about the gameplay which is why the monster hunter games are popular and because of the multiplayer online modes.

      2. Monster Hunter has never been known for its graphics. But if you played on the Pro, what setting did you choose? Enhanced graphics? Improved framerate? Or what was the only choice… field draw I think? I can’t remember.

      1. Plus, the whole hype behind World’s graphical fidelity is laughable because it’s just higher def of it’s usual cosmetics. Cosmetics of which, Switch can handle with some work or in this case, just localize XX already and call it a day. This is just Crapcom talking out of their ass. They demanded for RAM, got it and still do jack shit for that system especially when now Switch is a highly popular and dominating console at the moment plus breaking records worldwide. How’s that not enough warrant for them to just fucking localize XX and capitalize more success out of it? Oh wait, they’re crawling back to Sony like the rejected whore they are.

      1. I’m actually pretty sure we’ll hear something about it this year due to the sudden massive success of the console.

    1. Yeah I’ll be curious to see the sales figures.

Especially since it’s been a long time since any MS game has been on Playstation and the franchise has no following on Xbox.

  3. As if you know Computers aren’t as powerful as the PS4 /Xbox one. . He really limited his audience by releasing on console’s first. If they had released on PC first i think he could have had a wider audience. . besides PCs can be a whole lot more powerful then a PS4 or Xbox.

  4. Let’s see how this fares on PC/home consoles and then we talk. After the huge success Switch is in Japan (and the rest of the world of course),and given how they prefer portables and Monster Hunter is huge there,Monster Hunter will come to the system.Port or otherwise,it will come.

  5. I have a Nintendo Switch and I recently got a PS4 Pro, so which console is on doesn’t matter to me.

What does matter is that I’m gonna have so much fun making a YouTube channel with this game as my front and center.

  6. what’s with the denial here? the switch simply cant handle the game and that’s it, too much work, prehaps sometime in the future using a downgraded and customized version like doom or something like that

    1. We don’t give a fuck about World. We want XX localized. THATS IT and Crapcom is still making excuses and ignoring that specific request just to crawl back to Sony and kiss their ass.

    2. Also, the whole realism of World is almost non-existent plus. It’s just in higher definition. That’s it. Otherwise comestically, nothing has changed and shouldn’t excuse Switch’s abilities. Also, don’t even try to diss Switch’s Doom. You fucks said games like that would never come and yet when it does, “Oh but it looks like shit”. Any other games compare to PC visually is shit by default. Get over yourself.

  7. It’d do well in Japan, which I think warrants a version in and of itself, but it’s logical that they wouldn’t do a Switch version before the Switch was even announced. Chill the fuck out, guys. FYI the top selling games for the Switch are still Nintendo titles, so it’s natural that some 3rd party publishers are still a bit nervous about whether their games would sell, at least as much as Nintendo games. Personally I think it’s the right risk to take, but given Nintendo’s relationship with 3rd parties for the past 2 decade, I don’t blame them for being hesitant.

  8. First of all: Im not a Monster Hunter Fan but I do Respect to the franchise.

That being said let’s cut to the chase!
*M.H. was extremely Mega Popular on the 3DS.

*The Nintendo Switch has outsold the PS2 in less than a time (1st year sales!! Wow!!)

*The Switch is on pace to have the same success from 2017 (if not greater) by the end of 2018.

…….so crapcom? What are your plans in bringing M.H. to the Switch? The funnt part is all this wouldn’t have been an issue if they brought M.H. XX (Double Cross) to America or made it where you can switch the language to english.

But I bet you any amount of mobey they’re gonna bring yet another “Resident Evil” port off the Dreamcast & PS2. Smh while Lmao.

The money is here to be made crapcom. So what’s the problem?

  9. After playing this on the PS4 this simply couldn’t run on Switch, not to mention that the handheld’s poor ability to actually connect via a network like PSN or Live is one of the things that has always held the series back in the US.

As much as I love the Switch and Nintendo in general it’s online connectivity are, let’s be honest, absolutely garbage right now.

In order for this game to evolve and grow bigger than a small group of hardcore fans it needs to reach more people and be more accessible, something that after playing the beta it
    absolutely accomplishes.

We don’t need a handheld holding back this iteration. Maybe the Switch can get a port of the already existing Monster Hunter title that is overseas on the Switch, but from my understanding Capcom has already said they aren’t localizing it.

  10. As soon as I get a new HD TV & get an HDMI cord for my PS4, Monster Hunter World is gonna be the first god damn thing I start up on my PS4. I was hoping to be one of the millions to play it at midnight on it’s first day of release, like I was with Resident Evil 7 biohazard, but that plan was ruined the night my dad’s house burned down. (Good thing my wife bought us a trailer the year prior, though, so I just need that new TV and I’m set to go.)
