It’s been ages since we’ve had a game developed by Retro Studios, the last was the brilliant Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze on Wii U which is now headed to the Nintendo Switch. A member of Reset Era noticed that one of the writers at Retro Studios had updated their resumé on Linkedin. The writer is currently working on; “Narrative specializations in worldbuilding, character development, design integration, non-linear storytelling, prose fiction.” This means that they probably aren’t working on a Donkey Kong Country game and possibly something new and fresh. We shall have to see!
Retro Studios Linkedin, “Narrative Specialisations In World Building And Non-Linear Storytelling”

The description resembles Animal Crossing so I am guessing this is some kind of new IP. I was hoping for a DK 64 sequel :(
Me too :(

Sounds like a big open world to me!!! :D
Mario Kart World or Pikmin World – U read it here first…
Pikmin 4 with open world? Hell yes.
Oh shit. Retro working on an open world game? This pleases me. :3
Last rumour I heard they were working on a Horror Game, maybe it’s a new Horror IP from Nintendo’s Retro Studios with an Open World?
Why they didn’t do a Donkey Kong 64 sequel before doing something different…?
Everyone whined and moaned that they did a second DK game.
But them doing something new could be a good thing.
*rolls eyes* Let me know when they are gonna actually announce a game.
Non-linear storytelling, eh? Wasn’t that how the original Metroid Prime’s was structured? You got as much or as little story as you wanted by how many things you scanned?
I sense something big coming from them.
It’d be awesome to have a huge open world where you can scan things in the world to get more of the story. I wish Breath of the Wild had something similar using the Sheikah Slate.
