The team over at Digital Foundry have been playing through Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze on the Nintendo Switch and have explained how well the game performs on the system. The team has confirmed that the game is 1080p when the Nintendo Switch is docked and 648p when the game is played in handheld mode. Thankfully the game runs at a buttery smooth 60fps and features improved lighting and sharper textures.
Digital Foundry: Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze Is 1080p Docked And 648p Handheld

Good to hear it’s pushed up to 1080 docked. I’m not a massive resolution or frame rate obsessed person but I did notice how much better mario kart 8 deluxe looked compared to the original.
What do you think of the framerate difference between 1-2 player vs 3-4 player in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe? :P
they estimate 648p on Handled mode?
Well I suppose the will fix that with the release patch.
For what reason? It’s virtually indistinguishable on a screen that size held that closely to your face.
720 I feel is indistinguishable in handheld but 500s look horrible lol Xenoblade looks pretty bad and is like 540 Hopefully 650 doesn’t look bad

Nice to see some upgrades here, even if there’s not a lot of extra content. I won’t be double-dipping this time, though.
