Owlboy: Limited Edition For Nintendo Switch Takes Flight In July

Contrary to what was announced yesterday it seems that Owlboy: Limited Edition for the Nintendo Switch will launch at retail on July 13th. The game will be coming courtesy of SOEDESCO. The Owlboy: Limited Edition will also be coming to Sony’s PlayStation 4 console. Here’s what you get:

  • Owlboy base game for Nintendo Switch
  • Certificate of authenticity with a unique Limited Edition number
  • Original soundtrack, physical copy featuring the majestic Owlboy sounds
  • Owlboy notebook for logging all your adventures
  • Owlboy manual full of useful information about the game
  • Two pins, one of the Owlboy logo and one of main character Otus
  • Two metal coins inspired by the collectible ‘Buccanary coins’ in the game
  • Pin box to safely store your pins and coins
  • Sticker sheet with seventeen magnificent Owlboy stickers

There will only be 6000 pieces of this Limited Edition available worldwide per platform.

  1. But what’s the game like?

    These are all nice things, but is the actual game itself worth playing?

    Personally, I’m not a fan of these 8-bit-esque games with bite-sized sprites, where you can barely see the character you’re playing as. Celeste for example, is one of the worst offenders of this, where the in-game sprites look NOTHING like the characters in the promotional art. But to be fair, I checked out the screenshots of Owlboy and there is a bit of detail put into the sprites.

    I need a demo before I even consider shelling out and committing to this.
