Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s Battle Challenge Mode Will Be Available On June 14th

An all new mode was shown for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 during the Nintendo Treehouse stream at E3. Named the Land of Challenges,  the battle challenge mode brings some sweet risk and rewards for fans of the game. Choose from a wide array of challenges, such as the ability to battle wave after wave of formidable enemies, or choose to take down the malicious bosses such as Akhos and Malos in a fight to the death. In exchange, you’ll get Ether Cubes and treasure chests full of beautiful bounty on completion. Ether Cubes are dropped after every enemy death, so it’s your responsibility to pick them up before they disappear. Fortunately, you’ll be able to purchase new outfits for your characters with Nopon Stones you gather from completing challenges, unlocking inspiring and edgy outfits for your characters and blades.

Earlier during the segment, it was revealed that Shulk and Fiora would appear in the Land of Challenges as playable blades. While you won’t be able to control them as characters, you’ll be able to assign them to Rex or Nia for additional power. With Shulk, fans will get access to the legendary Monado blade, along with blade moves such as Monado Burst, Storm and Shield. If you launch a special attack during a battle, you’ll also get to see Shulk show off some of his original moveset from the first Xenoblade title.

Nintendo also mentioned that challenges can restrict your character levels with a level cap, or they can restrict character limit to two instead of three. An additional way to keep the meat on the bones of a challenge. Challenge Battle Mode will be available to download from the Switch eShop at 10pm on June 14th (or 15th depending on your global location), while the main DLC will be released on September 14th.
