Square Enix Briefly Talks Dragon Quest XII

Nintendo Switch owners will be getting an enhanced port of Dragon Quest XI titled Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition later this year, but many are wondering what’s next for the established series. Dragon Quest series executive producer, Yuu Miyake, mentioned earlier today that preparations are underway for the next big entry and here’s what he had to say on the subject:

“By the way, about Dragon Quest XII, which I’m sure is on everyone’s mind—[Yuji] Horii and I are currently making preparations on series developments that will connect to XII. I think it’s still too early, but we would like announce it in some form, so please wait a little while longer.”

  1. Cool I guess. The thing about Dragon Quest is that there’s quite a number of years between numbered releases.
I think that actually really helps the series knowing that each game plays almost identically to the last, you get much less fatigue because of the wait.

  2. And you’re not going to mention the Dragon Quest Walk? I know it’s not technically Nintendo news, but it ties in with this article.

  3. I just recently bought Dragon Quest XI on PS4. I got sick of always loving the art style, but never having actually played a Dragon Quest game (also bought D.Q. VII on 3DS). But the real question is, when/will I play it? I have such a backlog of games, it’s ridiculous. I told myself to finally go back to my forgotten Switch for a while after completing Red Dead Redemption II. Smash Bros. Ultimate and Yoshi’s Crafted World have been waiting for too long.
