Digimon Survive has been delayed to 2020

The next title in the Digimon series Digimon Survive has sadly been delayed until next year. The game will now be heading to the Nintendo Switch sometime in 2020. Five minutes of footage was shown during the Future of Digimon panel at Anime Expo 2019, though nothing has been uploaded online. Here’s details about the upcoming game:

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Digimon anime, Digimon Survive presents a brand-new adventure set in a mysterious world with characters designed by Uichi Ukumo, and music by the much-acclaimed Tomoki Miyoshi.

Digimon Survive sees a brand-new group of teenagers, led by Takuma Momozuka, get lost on a school camping trip, finding them transported to a strange new world of monsters and danger.

As they fight their way back home through an animated world of difficult decisions and deadly battles, players’ choices throughout the game will impact the evolution of their monster allies, and the final ending. Battles in the game are fought in 2D, in a more classic SRPG style.

  1. Well well, would you look at that – an rpg video game where monsters evolve and fight each other being delayed for quality assurance. Good on them, it’s always better to delay a game than rush out an unfinished mess where half of the most important features could be missing.

    1. You do know Digimon digivolve back to their base forms?
Digivolution actually is more complex than straight up Pokemon Evolution which is on a set path.
Digimon have their powers increased and don’t really require “leveling up” to do so, that and they have the ability to speak.

      1. So you’re saying that the simple evolution game has mediocre quality and the one that has complexity to it actually cares about quality and their fans. Welp Digimon>PokemonSwSh

      2. Pokemon also doesn’t have a choice to delay their games since they tie directly into the anime. It would be catastrophic for them if the TV show showed off more new Pokemon before the game came out.
They can, however, promise to add a future update that remedies the shortcomings, but they won’t because there was an executive decision to make the fans unhappy

        1. Nonsense, the Sun and Moon anime is still running. That is no reason to literally cut away half the Pokémon in the Pokedex and fuck their fans this much. Also – Pokémon Masters has a 2minute animated scene. I’m no expert but that shit is expensive. Maybe use that money to actually improve their MAIN GAME TITLE that we all have been waiting for including them?
Also obligatory Fuck You to GamFreak. No more Dexit.

          1. Pokemon Masters is partnered with The Pokemon Company and DeNA. Not Gamefreak. The time and expenses you’re talking about are coming from two different places. Plus, the fact that the anime is still running doesn’t mean there aren’t plans for future shows. Corocoro regularly sends out information regarding future game news and anime episodes. If anyone has information about the new Pokemon world it is very likely to be leaked ahead of time if such a delay happens.

            1. That’s a complete non sequitur. The fact remains that production of the anime will be in progress at the same time the game is being worked on. The facts don’t have anything to do with personal opinions. I personally wish there was a way they could delay it to make it better without fudging everything

            2. I see what you did there. But to be fair, I don’t think the Digimon series ever brought back every Digimon.

              1. No, they usually have less than 150 in their games, let alone the above 1000 pokemon S/S supposedly has. On top of that they haven’t been making a bunch of new designs over the years either. They also usually release sequels that reuses the previous games areas and generally add a handful more monsters when they do so. People keep saying GameFreak should do what digimon is doing, but if they did nobody would buy that Pokemon game. Here’s the thing, people have no expectations for digimon, so there’s nothing for them to be disappointed with. With pokemon on the other hand they expect that brings everything other games have while also including 10x more creatures than most of the games they are comparing it too. That’s not even including the fact most other games (including digimon) just recolor or slightly modify creatures to increase their numbers. Man, if GameFreak where to pull inspiration from yokai watch, 20% of the Pokemon in the game would just be different colored/sized pikachus
