Jeff Kaplan admits he has no idea when Overwatch 2 will be out

This week’s Blizzcon 2019 event kicked off on Friday and a number of titles were revealed including the long-awaited sequel to Overwatch. A new trailer was showcased for Overwatch 2 though a release date was notably absent from the video. Speaking to PC Gamer, Kaplan says he simply has no idea when the game will be released. They just want to ensure it’s the best it can be.

“I don’t know. I have no idea,” Kaplan said. “Like, just let us make it great, that’s what we care about more than anything. We don’t have a date in mind.” He also warned that the Overwatch team will probably “go dark” after BlizzCon while it works on the game.

    My guess is July 2021

        1. They’ve banned a Hearthstone tournament winner for supporting the Hong Kong protest against China. They took away his pricemoney etc and fired the commentators that cooperated with the winner about that comment. When backlash came they gave him back his money, but kept him banned for 6 month. They’ve messed up in interviews, more or less said they can’t support what the winner said (which was about having a free country) and so on. There was much much more, like Blizzard banning another team etc. Read up on it or check YT. It’s sickening.

I have to say that I didn’t give much attention on the event of China but to be honest it’s sone time that Blizzard is losing their touch. Now I’ll admit I like Overwatch but I miss the old days of Blizzard releasing games that are memorable. Like WC2.

Of WOW is their biggest game ever but I’m a retro gamer too and to me WC2 is their best game ever made, even if it has many problems.

I can only hope Blizzard will take better actions in the future

        1. Never really cared for Blizzard to begin with. Had some shortlived fun with Overwatch, and some Warcraft 3. I hate to see persons and company fall from grace like Blizzard has. No one liked Activision, and Blizzard haven’t been doing that great lately either. It’s going to take time before people forgive them, which I kind of hope they don’t. Unless Blizzard really redeem themselves.

I admit all that is messed up but does that include the developers of Overwatch? Or is it just the executives of Blizzard doing that?

        1. It’s always a debate that you’re punishing the hard working workforce of a company when you boycott a company. The problem is that executives are the ones that largely benefits from it all. The thing is that if we want to punish those up in the company, we need to punish the whole company. By keep buying the products of a company to support the workforce, you’re mostly just supporting the executives because they’re taking most of the revenue.

What’s morally more correct for each and one of us is for the individual to decide. For me; by letting companies censor the traffic of information because of a goverment cannot be forgiven. Those developers of Blizzard will make new jobs if they’re tallented; which I’m sure they all are.

In fact they made this announce for have less problem this year at blizzcon. I’m not a Diablo and WOW player but the only game who got my attention is OW2. The rest nothing got my interest.

    2. My thoughts exactly, they’re probably barely into the early planning stage.
Kinda amusing to watch a big scummy company like Activision-Blizzard flop around in their failures. Well deserved.

  3. All the people complaining about blizzard the company and their political views… STFU. Did you guys have any clue what Sega, Sony, Konami, Nintendo, Square or any other dev’s political views are? So why do you care? Grow up, stop trying to be a keyboard warrior and get off Blizzard’s back. If you don’t wanna play Overwatch or Overwatch 2, don’t. You don’t have a say in what their views as a company are and you never will.

    1. I don’t think anyone’s mad about their political views, just what they did to the Hearthstone player that did nothing wrong. That and the bad apology they made after the incident.

Granted, they did make a better apology at BlizzCon, but it unfortunately didn’t make their fans any less mad at them.

    2. Well, you clearly don’t get… But nervermind, as you’re out of topic, nobody cares of what you just said…

    3. “All you people complaining about innocent human beings having their very organs harvested from their bodies while they are still alive and awake and struggling against the knife (, your empathy and humanity is making it hard for me to enjoy my video game so shut the fuck up.”

How about no. How about if you have nothing constructive to say, you STFU. My complaint is that they justified all this as keeping “politics” out of their game because people might have an alternate opinion.

There is no alternate opinion on this matter. Unless your for monstrous torture and death and forced organ harvesting of prisoners in a country where they arrest people for saying their president looks like winnie the pooh, or trying to run against their president. It is in China’s interest to make us believe that this is a political issue. They want us to turn a blind eye, to not give a shit, to just hide in our games and shut our ears. The only one here making a political statement is you and Blizzard, by literally pushing China’s propaganda that there is nothing to see. It is monstrous and grotesque, and no I will not shut up. And yes, it IS worse than what other companies have done. And keep in mind, Nintendo is a japanese country, and the japanese are actually very wary of china and need to be because they are very close to each other. Nintendo literally just released the switch in that country and China only approved one game. CHina only has 1 game on their switch. And that’s new super marios bros U deluxe. SO you arguing that every company is just as guilty is also completely wrong. China is not Nintendo’s primary source of income, and they would never suck China’s dick for money.
