Ty the Tasmanian Tiger could possibly be getting a new game, would need bigger team & budget though

Australian 3D platformer Ty the Tasmanian Tiger could be getting a 5th game in the series on Nintendo Switch providing other entries sell well. At the moment there’s only the original Ty the Tasmanian Tiger on Nintendo Switch, however developer Krome Studios say that they would “love” to bring Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2 and Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 3 to Nintendo’s popular platform. Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 4 was released on PC as a side scroller, but Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 5 would go back to being a 3D platformer.

Yes, of course we have, we’ve had several discussions. If we did a TY 5, we would do it as a 3D platformer. It’s also a resource issue. For that type of game, we’d need a much bigger team size, budget, everything is so much bigger. What we would want to achieve isn’t something that could be done on a shoestring budget. With today’s expectations of what the graphics and everything should look like now, it’s such a much bigger budget. The scale is pretty huge. Back in the day, the core TY1 team was around 20-25. We’re about 12 people now.

  1. I’d be down for TY 5, but it would have to be the best one yet. I like the first game, the second one was kinda weak but not horrible, haven’t played 3 (but I’ve heard it’s the worst one) and 4. Got them all in my Steam library though.

  2. The first game was the only good one, so I don’t have too much faith in a new one.
I do wish the 3D platformer genre wasn’t so dead though. There’s not nearly enough nowadays.

    1. It sucks because 2017 seemed like the genre was being revived with all the games coming out (all topped off with Super Mario Odyssey)…
But then it just kinda slumped back over.
