Next year, the Sonic franchise will celebrate its 30th anniversary. It is unknown what this will include, but the Nintendo Switch is likely to be a part of it. Whatever it is exactly, SEGA is not telling just yet. SEGA Chief Brand Officer Ivo Gerscovich was asked in a GamingTrend interview on what fans can expect in the coming months for Sonic’s anniversary. Gerscovich said that “yes! We have some exciting news that we can’t wait to share. But you’ll have to stay tuned for details”. Gerscovich’s last words for GamingTrend’s readers were also interesting, telling them to “stay tuned our friends, Sonic’s just getting started”.
I could get excited for a new game from the Mania team.. or even a remake of Sonic Adventure.
Just please, don’t be a new boost-style entry… it completely fails to capture the essence of what Sonic should be. It has the speed, but not the platforming.

To be fair, Sonic Colors balances platforming and speed very well. It’s not “press Boost to win”.

The only game that actually handle the boost style well was unleashed, thats when majority of sonic devs left, and went on to work on certain mario games.

Agreed. The Boost formula might be one of the worst mechanics introduced in the series. It trivializes all the momentum found in previous 2D and 3D games and turns speed into a simple on/off switch.
But it is undeniably flashy and that’s likely why it’s so popular. Regardless I’ll say it here, as long as they keep on designing levels around the Boost formula they will never have one that reaches the heights of Sonic Mania or even the Sonic Adventure games for that matter.
The win button topples it all.
Eventually, they’ll stop shitting out titles centered around arbitrary anniversaries and actually take the time to make a game that isnt ass.

Sonic Colors and Generations did really well in my part. But, whatever they plan to share us some news about Sonic’s 30th anniversary in 2021, It would be much exciting as we are hoping for but i would not get my hopes on this just yet. Lets see how this turns out once we see a trailer for it and a new gameplay and animation.

Knowing S I care about the top two the most. The other two are more like cherry on top of the cake. You can have amazing story and characters, but trash gameplay and level design, and it’ll be a good game, and vise versa.
I predict TWO things: a Sonic Adventure 1 remake (because with all the teases, it’s improbable that they’re NOT doing it), and a new game that shoehorns Classic Sonic into it for no real reason other than that Sega thinks he’s their crutch.
All I want out of a new Sonic game is for some of Sonic’s friends to be playable again, especially Silver- what’s the point of having a wide entourage of friends with different abilities if you’re not going to use them?

I also want Infinite to return from Forces, but done right this time- I’d prefer him over any of the Deadly Six any day, which they keep bringing back.
