A new update has been released for Super Mario Maker 2. When you update, the game should be at version 3.0.1. This update, according to Nintendo‘s patch notes, only does two things, both of which are related to polishing the game. You can see the full official patch notes for yourself down below.

- When you bring up the Pause Menu while playing Ninji Speedrun, you can no longer control the player character for a few moments after closing it.

- Issues have been fixed to make for a more pleasant gaming experience.

Were people cheesing tough sections by abusing the pause feature? That’s the only reason I can think of for this change.
