Japan: Nintendo Switch family sells 70K units this week, Animal Crossing: New Horizons remains No.1

The latest Japanese software and hardware charts have arrived and Nintendo continues to dominate the competition in Japan. The Nintendo Switch family of consoles sold a respectable 70,129 units while Sony’s outgoing PlayStation 4 systems sold 883 units and were outsold by the ageing Nintendo 3DS at 1,171 units. It was the incredibly popular Animal Crossing: New Horizons which took the No.1 spot this week selling an additional 42,863 copies.

  1. What’s incredible is that according to the numbers above, 97.1% of consoles sold that week in Japan were Switches. That’s just insane. Obviously I understand that all the other consoles are at the end of their life cycle, but still.
