Nintendo has announced on its official website that support for the popular video streaming app, Netflix, will end on 30th June this year for both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U platforms. The Netflix application became unavailable to download from 31st December, but for those who already have the app installed will be able to enjoy it for a little while longer. If you’ve downloaded it previously but deleted it, Nintendo is allowing users in this situation to re-download the Netflix app if they wish.
Starting Dec 31st, 2020, the Netflix app will no longer be available for new users to download from Nintendo eShop on the Wii U console or Nintendo 3DS family of systems. During that time, it will be possible for existing users to re-download these applications. Service for existing users will continue until June 30th, 2021. Thank you to everyone who enjoyed Netflix on these platforms over the years.

Meanwhile on the Switch…

I was using Netflix on the original Wii up until 2018. I wonder if it still works on there…
Let me know dude :)
My original Wii is packed up in storage but I will be getting it out soon, I may have to test out it just to see!
It doesn’t. I can’t remember the exact date but I bet there’s an article on this website about it.
Maybe we’ll get a Netflix app on Switch.
Huh. And yet YouTube is still available on Wii U with no signs that it’s going down.
Good, since that’s my primary use for my Wii U now.
Did anyone even still use Netflix on Wii U? I sure didn’t.
How long before the Wii U becomes a pure paper weight, excluding those games, namely SEGA titles, that won’t see the light of day on the Switch.
Not to mention the modding scene (if any).
What a shame…
FUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!!!!
They NEED to put this on Switch now!
I don’t know anyone who uses Netflix on 3DS and Wii U.
Then you don’t know many people who own a Wii U at all.
I used to organize smash tourneys in my community so I knew hundreds of people who had Wii U / 3DS. Two out of these downloaded the Netflix app just to try it but did not continue using it because hello the a smart phone / laptop runs netflix way better.
Well before I upgraded to my Roku tv (against my will, thanks to my Element tv suddenly not working correctly), this was all I could rely on after the Wii.
Hey they told us before they took it down, I’ll take that as a positive.
