SEGA has confirmed this afternoon that the sequel to the popular Sonic the Hedgehog movie will be titled Sonic the Hedgehog 2. The film will arrive in cinemas worldwide on Friday, 8th April 2022. The movie’s logo which was revealed today teases an appearance from the adorable Tails. James Marsden has been confirmed to return for the sequel, and Ben Schwartz will presumably be the voice of Sonic again. Check out the teaser reveal below.
Seeing James Marsden coming back is disappointing to me. The first movie felt like it was focusing on the cop’s cheesy life more than Sonic. Hopefully that isn’t the case for this one. Meh.
Eh, I personally think they balanced it well. Yes, they give a lot of attention to James Marsden, but I never felt like his story diminished Sonics. Sonic got plenty of time to shine and have his own character arc.
Sonic 2 was my favorite Sonic game. I still have it on my Wii Eshope through my Wii U.
Yet I love Sonic Adventure 2 too
I’m expecting great things from this sequel. I predict we will also be introduced to Knuckles, Robotnik will return, and he will have constructed Metal Sonic using the power of Sonic’s quill that he held onto at the end of the first film.
Knuckles, like Tails, needs to be a cameo at the end of the film. Maybe introduce the Chaos Emeralds in the same scene since Knuckles is supposed to be the guardian of them if I remember my lore correctly.
One of the directors says that the chaos emeralds will be feature in the movie.
Just the Master Emerald, actually- however the ME has the power to amplify or neutralize the Chaos Emeralds. The Chaos Emeralds just kinda float around between games.
I hope we will see a super sonic fighting metal sonic. The end of the first movie somehow showed sonic getting really angry and glowing, it’s a small step to super sonic from there ^^ I really like the super sayajin vibes from the first movie, pretty sure the second movie will be AWESOME.
Can we get Remasters of Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, Sonic Heroes, and Shadow the Hedgehog? And get a Sonic Adventure 3?? It’s been a long time.
