Gaming news publication The Gamer recently had the chance to speak with Koei Tecmo president Hisashi Koinuma about a range of subjects including the Samurai Warriors franchise and other musou games. One of the questions he was asked by the site was which franchise would you love to make a Warriors game for? Mr. Koinuma told the site that they would love to able to create a Mario-themed musou game or a Star Wars one, though he confesses he hasn’t been given the opportunity to work on those games.
Is there a franchise that you personally would love to make a Warriors game for?
[HK] “Mario and STAR WARS are two great series that come to mind. Unfortunately, we haven’t had the opportunity to collaborate with these IP yet.”

In the past, I’ve already mentioned on a few occasions how a Mario Warriors game could be amazing. I think it could potentially be even greater than Hyrule Warriors, because the Mario universe is just that much bigger.
Watch it be relegated to toads and characters only Miyamoto approves like in Paper Mario
So, Paper Mario Musou?
If this does happen, I hope for the same quality of cutscenes and personality as Luigi’s Mansion and Mario + Rabbids. It’s been 30 years and you would expect Mario, the most iconic video game character ever to have more character and interactions with others outside the RPGs. I think Age of Calamity did a good job giving more depth to Link
Well, to A Link, anyway.
Lol wut? A Warriors game with Mario?
No, it’ll never happen. It’s Mario. You know, the always kid-friendly, rated E for Everyone series. You can’t get by mass slaughter of Goombas or Koopas with an E rating no matter how hard you try it.
Probably Pokemon eventually. I doubt Mario will ever happen.
I would like to see a Star Wars Musou game, it’s perfect for it.
They should have made one some time after dynasty warriors 3. It’s not too late. Star wars could be good too but make sure Kathleen Kennedy stays far away from it.
And the story group since that’s Kennedy’s idiot group of puppets.
