The Donkey Kong series has sold 65 Million copies as of March 2021

Along with this morning’s news that a Donkey Kong-themed area will be coming to Super Nintendo World in Japan, Nintendo also revealed the total worldwide sales of the Donkey Kong franchise in general. The Donkey Kong series, which began arcades in 1981, has now shifted over 65 million copies worldwide. Sadly, Nintendo hasn’t announced a new Donkey Kong game, but rumours which appeared earlier this year suggest that Nintendo EPD is working hard on development of a new 3D or 2.5D Donkey Kong game.

“Nintendo’s Donkey Kong franchise started with an arcade game in 1981 and quickly captured the hearts of fans around the world. Since then, the Donkey Kong game series has continually delivered more games on Nintendo video game systems, such as the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Wii, and Nintendo Switch. The series has sold over 65 million units (as of March 2021) worldwide to generations of fans.”

  1. Can we get a open world 3D DK game. They just cut and paste kirby in Odyseey. Can we get the same for DK? Arkham City meets BOTW with a shotgun. As long as that stupid Retro doesn’t make it.
