Pokémon Scarlet & Violet’s file sizes are 10GB each

Today was a busy day for Pokemon fans. Today was the premiere of a Pokemon Presents video presentation. More details about Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet had been revealed, including more details about the Paldea region, new characters and even some new Pokemon.

However, there was another piece of news that happened today. If you plan to get Pokemon Scarlet and/or Violet digitally, Nintendo’s official page listings for both versions now includes the file sizes. According to Nintendo, each version will be 10 GB each. So, if you plan to get both Pokemon Scarlet and Violet digitally, you will need 20 GB of free space to do so.

  1. So they’re no bigger than Sword and Shield. Considering these games boast about being ambitious open world experiences, I would have thought they would be bigger games than Sword and Shield. I wonder if this is something to worry about.

      1. Yes, but BOTW didn’t have hundreds of creatures with thousands of attacks to cheaply animate. Sword and Shield might have big file sizes for a different reason than BOTW. And I don’t know about Arceus as I never played it. I worry that there isn’t a lot of content or perhaps the world itself is very small for an “open world” game. I suppose only time will tell.

  2. I don’t know that this is a good sign. Nintendo is probably working their compression magic to help them crunch this down, but one has to wonder just how much content this game will have. For all we know, this could be so low due to Dexit 2.0.

  3. I bet some of the human characters will be stupid and horrible like Allister, Hop, Hau, Gordie, Avery, and Melli.
