Platinum Games: “Nintendo is very important to us right now and will be moving forward”

Online gaming site VGC recently caught up with the talented team at Platinum Games who have just released NieR:Automata The End of YoRHa Edition on the Nintendo Switch via Virtuos Games. The team were asked about their all-important relationship with Nintendo which will see Bayonetta 3 finally launch this October. Platinum Games president and CEO, Atsushi Inaba, said that the relationship with the Kyoto-based company remains very important to them now and also moving into the future. It will be interesting to see which franchise Platinum Games handles next. Bayonetta 3 launches on Nintendo Switch on 28th October.

You already have a strong history of partnering with Nintendo. Could Yamane’s appointment bring that relationship even closer?

Inaba: Well obviously, Yamane didn’t leave Nintendo on bad terms at all and this partnership that we have with Nintendo is very important to us right now and will be moving forward. I think with Yamane-san joining us here, PlatinumGames can definitely build an even stronger relationship with Nintendo moving forward. That can only be a positive thing for PlatinumGames. So yeah, we’re very glad to have him on board.

  1. “this partnership that we have with Nintendo is very important to us right now and will be moving forward. ”

That means new releases released on Switch the same time as other consoles? Didn’t think so.

    1. Oh my god, found a fanboy everyone. Not all Platinum games are published by Platinum, they don’t have a say in where their games get ported. That’s like them saying they have a great relationship with Xbox and then pointing out Bayonetta 2 isn’t on Xbox. Its just dumb

But no, I was really excited to get Babylon’s fall on Nintendo switch

  2. I think Nintendo’s and platinums been very important for a long time considering the success of the bayonetta games. Let’s hope it can hold up with the next entry. It’s looking pretty good so far

      1. StarFox Zero is not as bad as people claim it to be and the motion controls ain’t that bad. If it were in VR people would praise it but the problem is that the only thing that has changed is that instead of the Wii U gamepad it’s the headset and the irony is that VR is just a glorified motion controls with the ability to be in a first person perspective.

    1. As interesting as that would be I doubt it, considering how Platinumgames really wishes to stay independent and have more control over what they do from here on.
