Thunderful announces SteamWorld Build coming later this year to Switch

As promised Thunderful has delivered the SteamWorld Telegraph: Special Broadcast and the new game revealed is a new venture in the series called SteamWorld Build. The game, as the name suggests, is a city builder-style game which will see players establish a mining town and manage resources, trade materials and look for ancient technology buried beneath the soil with all the renowned charm the SteamWorld series offers. During the stream, Thunderful Games co-founder Brjann Sigurgeirsson, said that there are four SteamWorld-themed games in development which include SteamWorld Build and SteamWorld Headhunter. SteamWorld Build is due out on the Nintendo Switch and other platforms later this year and you can watch the trailer down below.

  1. I want to say this is lame (and as hoping for something different), but the SteamWorld games have always surprised me with how fun they can be. Gonna stay hopeful.

    1. You read my mind. I don’t think I’d look twice at this if it wasn’t a Steamworld game. But I loved Dig, Quest, and Heist so… I guess they’ve earned some consumer confidence from me.

  2. This actually looks pretty dope, though I think this kind of busy game isn’t really for me nowadays. I’d definitely give it a try under different circumstances, but with my backlog already containing like 50-ish games or so, I don’t think I want to get into a (probable) time sink like this.

Still, I admire them treading new grounds once again and actually making something that looks really good. I don’t remember if they’ve made a 3D game before, but this one definitely looks great and perfectly captures the feel of the other SteamWorld games.
