Mortal Kombat 12 confirmed to release this year

Warner Bros. Discovery revealed earlier today during its earnings call that the long-awaited Mortal Kombat 12 is scheduled to release this year on multiple formats. 2023 is currently set to be a huge year for fighting game fans. There is the release of the stunning Street Fighter 6 and the iconic Tekken 8 also coming this year. Details on Mortal Kombat 12 are naturally scarce at this point, but hopefully we won’t have to wait long for a flashy trailer to surface.

“And there’s lots more to come, including the highly-anticipated Mortal Kombat 12 and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, games also set for release this year with amibitious launch projections.”

Andrew Slabin, Warner Bros. Discovery’s executive vice president of global investor strategy

  1. I don’t know much about the fighting ganre but Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter and Tekken all releasing new titles within the same year. Anyone knows that makes for a huge year for the fanbase pretty sure anyone recognizes these titles even people not familiar with the fighting ganre.

  2. I’m pretty surprised that Mortal Kombat is releasing a new iteration already. but then again it’s going to be like 2 years of added DLC content to go along with it as well I’m sure. still surprising that a new title is coming out already.

  3. Can we please not have any DC reps this time? I get that MK is owned by WB now, but every time they put MK and DC characters in the same game, it’s like they’re telling me to stop wanting Mario and Mega Man Crossovers and want more Spider-Man and Mega Man crossovers instead. I know I got what I wanted, but all these crossovers between MK and DC are still annoying.

  4. I mean sure it wasn’t that long ago but the last main MK game was released in 2019. I’m just more surprised that MK12 is appearently releasing this year.
If it was in the SoP presentation it would have been the highlight for me. I still would have preferred Injustice 3 but I guess WB don’t want it to steal the attention from SS (considering that game also features a “evil Superman” story, among others reasons).
