Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom updated to Version 1.1.1 (patch notes)

2023 has been a busy year for Nintendo, and it isn’t just because of new games and downloadable content. Nintendo has been releasing a slow but steady stream of updates to their various games. That said, it was only a matter of time before The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom continued that trend.

Sure enough, that has happened. Nintendo has released a new update for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and it is the first update to release since the game launched last week. According to the patch notes, the only thing the update has is a specific bug fix. The patch notes can be seen down below.

General Updates
  • Fixed issue where, sometimes, the player could not clear main quest “The Closed Door,” even if they fulfilled the conditions to advance the quest.
    • If you have already encountered this issue, you will be able to clear the quest by downloading this update data.
  • Several issues have been addressed to improve the gameplay experience.

  1. Wow, The Closed Door is one of the first story missions you need to clear- you literally cannot leave the starting area until you complete it. How did that have such a glaring issue?

    1. I bought the game Thursday and am still stuck on giant sky island with 3 shrines visited but the temple of time will not open for me. Very glad to see this update has come through and so soon too. Kudos Nintendo
