To say that The Super Mario Bros. Movie has been successful would be a massive understatement. Even though it has been nearly 2 months since the movie premiered in theaters, it is still breaking records and reaching milestones. In fact, it has reached another milestone this weekend.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that The Super Mario Bros. Movie has grossed $1,248,000,000 worldwide. By doing so, the movie has now surpassed The Incredibles to become the 3rd highest-grossing animated film of all time. Frozen 1 and Frozen 2 are the only films left for Nintendo and Illumination’s movie to surpass. The former is very possible to be surpassed. It grossed $1,276,000,000 worldwide, so the Mario movie is relatively close. The latter is another story, however, as it grossed $1,450,000,000 worldwide.

  1. Obviously a great homage to Nintendo’s deep family roots and classic charm, in this category alone, they’ve stuck gold :)

      1. Nintendo is literally my favorite brand so I agree with you completely there. I can’t even make a video game.

    1. Tell a friend who actually owns it digitally to let you to watch the movie…bam, you’ll be watching it without spending a cent. lol.

  2. I looked up the highest grossing Animated film and it appear that the Mario Movie has to beat the Lion King Remake as well, since its be catergorized as an Animated Film, which makes sense because the film was pretty much all Animated, despite what Disney says.

Ignoring it, the Mario Movie has already toppled Frozen and just needs to overthrow Frozen 2 for the top spot
