New box-office figures have come through for Nintendo and Illumination Entertainment’s delightful, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which is has now generated $1.276 billion worldwide. The beautifully animated film recently overtook Disney Pixar’s juggernaut, The Incredibles 2, to become the third highest-grossing animated movie of all-time and is now Illumination Entertainment’s highest-grossing release ever. You can watch The Super Mario Bros. Movie at your local cinema or alternatively you can watch it at home via a digital release on Amazon or the iTunes Store, which you can either choose to rent or buy.

It counts on which list you look at as some people count the Lion King remake and others don’t cause Disney called it live action. But let’s all be honest, it’s just a super high resolution animated movie. A video game doesn’t become motion capture if the visuals become photo realistic, why would a movie become “live action” just because it’s animation becomes photo realistic.

I Feel like his Is a double edged sword, because this means tha Hollywood will now milk the absolute f*uk out of this until we’re all sick of the sight of these characters, because that what Hollywood does best these days.
I doubt Nintendo would allow that to happen. Especially Miyamoto.

Must be nice to be Nintendo right now. Getting revenue from a Mario Movie and Tears of the Kingdom at the same time. So now…….what’s next? That indeed is the 1 billion dollar question.
