The Pokémon Company International announced updates for Pokémon UNITE to celebrate the strategic Pokémon team battle game’s 2nd Anniversary. Updates include:
- Mewtwo Joining the Fray: The Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo is now available in Pokémon UNITE. Players can obtain a free Unite license for Mega Mewtwo X by participating in the Mewtwo’s Crystal Cave Challenge event happening now. This Unite license will enable Mewtwo to Mega Evolve into Mega Mewtwo X during battle, allowing for quick and relentless attacks. A Unite license for Mega Mewtwo Y will be available for players at no cost in mid-August.
- Panic Parade Events: Panic Parade is a new type of battle that is different from the standard 5-on-5 battle format, where players need to work together to protect Tinkaton from an onslaught of attacks from panicking Pokémon. Panic Parade events will occur from July 21 to August 21.
- Battle Pass 17: The swashbuckling Battle Pass 17 is available now, allowing players to get Marine Style: Greedent and Captain Style: Zacian Holowear, along with exclusive Captain Set Trainer fashion items.

- Second event: Friday, 4 August, at 8:00 p.m. EST/5:00 p.m. PST to Monday, 7 August, at 7:59 p.m. EST/4:59 p.m. PST
- Third event: Friday, 11 August, at 8:00 p.m. EST/5:00 p.m. PST to Monday, 14 August, at 7:59 p.m. EST/4:59 p.m. PST
- Fourth event: Friday, 18 August, at 8:00 p.m. EST/5:00 p.m. PST to Monday, 21 August, at 7:59 p.m. EST/4:59 p.m. PST
