More information supposedly unveiled for Nintendo’s next gaming platform

A known video game leaker with a decent track record NateTheHate has elaborated on the reports last week regarding the Nintendo Switch 2 being showcased to developers behind doors at last month’s Gamescom 2023 event in Cologne, Germany. The information shared includes that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild demo was running on the new system at 4K, 60fps, with shorter load times, presumably played in docked mode. Nate says that March 2024 was the date being discussed with developers at the event, however he is not entirely sure if that’s the reveal date for Nintendo’s next generation system or the release window. Here’s what was shared via Reddit.

  • Botw demo ran at 4k 60fps – instant loading times compared to the 30 seconds loading times on Switch 1
  • The DLSS being used was supposedly DLSS 3.5 but it may not have all the features the pc version does
  • The Matrix demo looked the exact same as it does on next gen consoles with supposedly better ray tracing however keep it mind it most likely wasn’t running on native hardware but on a pc/ dev kit with similar specs
  • March 2024 was a date being discussed at gamescom but Nate is unsure if it is a reveal date or a release date
  • Still no clarity on backwards compatibility

  1. Probably a reavel date, march is some time after the holidays. Nintendo definitely wants to keep Switch the focus on this year, especially since it’s a big year for Nintendo all around. The next Mario 3D game will most likely get anounced with it, since a new Zelda is years away.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, you very well could be right, but didn’t they announce the Nintendo Switch in October and released it in March?

      1. The Switch was the successor to a failed console; there wasn’t much risk in hurting Christmas sales of the Wii U. This time around, they’ll probably want to maximize Switch sales for one more holiday season before announcing the next platform.

    1. NatetheHate has a really bad track record. He got the Switch Pro wrong, he predicted Game Boy games on Switch coming in 2021, etc.

    1. Nintendo is fairly anti consumer. Why allow everyone to play what they bought when they can simply buy again for (very likely higher price than the other systems bc of the Nintendo tax). People will tell you to use your switch or carry/connect both systems. That’s exactly why my Wii U got retired and I shoved the crap in a closet. It took up a huge chunk of space with the game pad and random stuff. I need to stop building collections on Nintendo and just buy the stuff on stream so I never have to worry about this again

      1. Yes Nintendo is notoriously against backwards compatibility

        Like the GBC playing GB?
Or the GBA playing GBA and GBC?
        Or the DS playing GBA?
        Or the 3DS playing DS?
        Or the Wii playing GameCube?
Or the Wii U playing Wii?

        1. Been playing Nintendo since the 80s.You can’t compare the wii , wii and switch library to the Nes and Snes. Those had actual third party lineups and a wider range of Nintendo franchises. If you don’t know this your probally born later than me.

          1. We can very easily compare the Wii, Wii U and Switch libraries to NES and SNES, given that most of the games, on the NES in particular, were complete garbage, and many others have aged very poorly over the years.

The dude who commented above seems to be correct, you’re sounding pretty boomer-ish to me ngl.
Try taking off those rose-tinted glasses and looking at things objectively for a change.

            1. Says the guy who is born after 2000 if I remember correct , or grew up with N64 at best.

              Blaster Master
              Mother
              Tecmo Super Bowl

This is just out the top of my head and honestly I could go on and easily name another 50 , these are just some of the bigger franchises.

I doubt you will be able to make this kind of (quality) list , even if you combined the Wii, Wii U and Switch let alone just one console.

Anyway , you have just proven to not know much about Nintendo history or respect it for that matter.

Also the Snes is considered one of the best consoles in gaming history by many people and lists. Heck the Nes is even ranked nr1 on many if you do some research before saying stupid things. So yeah the guy does have a point but this website is filled with childish people who can’t take any critisicm and will do anything to defend there precious Nintendo. Your one of the biggest btw.

              1. Ah, there it is. The typical boomer mindset of “if you’re born after , your opinion is invalid”.
Truly the catchphrase of middle-aged neckbeards everywhere. And yet you’re trying to tell me you’re not looking at this through rose-tinted lenses? lmao.

Cherry picking a bunch of good NES games (some of which aren’t actually “good” to begin with) doesn’t change the fact that most of them have aged like milk, and the rest aren’t anywhere near the scale of most modern games and are FAR more simplistic. As much as you might delude yourself, we’re not living in the 80s and 90s anymore. Gaming has moved on.
But by all means, name another 50. I want to see how hard you’re willing to grasp at straws.

Trying to imply I know nothing about Nintendo history because I voiced an opinion you disagree with… yawn. Boring. If you’re going to spout brainless garbage like that, don’t bother arguing with people in the first place. In the end you’re only embarrassing yourself, so try something else next time.

Funny how you say stuff like “considered one of the best consoles in gaming history” and “ranked number one by many” without actually citing any actual sources lmao.
Guess what? I can find a bunch of other lists that ranks the PS2 as the best console, or the Xbox 360, or even the Switch itself. Gee, it’s almost as if these lists are completely subjective to the people who made them or something, and mean absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things. Who would’ve thought it?

You complaining about “childish people who can’t take any criticism” is absolutely hilarious. Genuinely top tier comedy.
Can you GENUINLY not see the irony in saying that? After the long angry spiel you just typed in response to my fairly tame comment criticising your childhood game systems?
I’ve seen a lot of people on here with little self-awareness, but you’re one of the biggest btw.

              2. But anyway, thanks for the good comedy your comment provided. I was in need of a good laugh.
I’ll leave you to cope and seethe about the gaming industry leaving you behind in peace, Mr Boomer :)
                Byee~

                1. Haha your so full of yourself Moonstruck! People like you ruin this otherwise great website. Grow the fuck up keyboard warrior.

  2. With switch games developed to run in multiple modes… it would be more of a shock if they didn’t allow BC and the BC included upscaling regular switch games along with using DLSS to help improve scaled visuals. Like the New 3DS line giving a bit of a boost to some regular 3DS games with faster loading, higher framerates, and so on. It would burn out a lot of gamers (currently 3rd best selling console of all time… might even get up to 1 depending on how long it remains on the market) to just up and drop BC when they worked so hard to bring back the casual gamers and the more traditional ones who left during the motion focused Wii days and skipped the Wii-U and it’s huge packed in controller. They’ve got to do enough to keep the train going as there’s no separate handheld line to fall back on anymore.
