The latest charts are now in from the largest gaming market in Europe, the United Kingdom. It was always going to be a great week for new releases as Spider-Man 2, Super Mario Wonder, and Sonic Superstars all released, vying for gamers’ attention. It seems as though Sony’s Spider-Man 2 came out the winner, entering the charts at the coveted top spot. Spider-Man 2 was followed by the wonderful Super Mario Wonder, which is now the fifth biggest-selling game of 2023. SEGA’s Sonic Superstars didn’t fare too badly either as it entered at No. 4 but couldn’t dislodge EA Sports FC 24 at No. 3.
“Spider-Man 2 is the fourth biggest boxed game launch of the year, behind Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, EA Sports FC24 and Hogwarts Legacy.”

I feel like Spiderman 2 might be GOTY, if it’s not TOTK or Baldurs Gate 3.
If Spiderman 2 is GOTY i wouldn’t be surprised or argue with it, after all PlayStation is the king of story driven games.
Doubt it, it’s been getting favorable reviews, but nothing like the first one. Most reviewers are saying it’s more of the same. Plus this is the year that has Resident evil 4 remake, Dead Space remake, Tears of the Kingdom, Jedi survivor Wolong Fallen Dynasty, BG3, Starfield, street fighter 6, and even the Amazing underated System Shock Remake. And it doesn’t even include the long awaited Alan Awake 2.
Ohh please, PlayStation is far from kings at anything. As for story driven games that goes more towards Square Enix. Any PlayStation game story is a old rehashed one from a previous game or comic and is extremely repetitive.
From reading most of his comments, that Nikki guy is definitely a Sony fanboy that somehow ended up frequenting a Nintendo news site.
The fact that Mario Kart is still in the running (I know about all the extra DLC) is crazy
classic sonic deserves to sell better than that abomination known as modern sonic.
You can’t be serious.
While Super Mario Bros. Wonder at number 2 is a good start and it will be an evergreen title, it’s a bit embarrassing that Nintendo’s main mascot couldn’t beat Spider Man 2. Especially so when the Switch has a massively larger install base than PS5.
First of all this is the UK charts so I can see it, second considering Mario is a 2D game it literally has did extremely well compared to Spider-Man. In the end it will have more global sales within a year.
I wanted Sonic, but Sega is investing in an NFT project and that’s no good. So I said no and then I got outta there. I also made sure to tell someone I trust why I’m boycotting SEGA.
