Nintendo Switch firmware updated to Version 17.0.1 (patch notes)

Nintendo hasn’t really been doing much with the Switch’s firmware lately. The last few updates, including the version 16.0.0 and 17.0.0 ones, contained very little new additions. In fact, at least a third of the updates that have been released in the past 6 months have been “rebootless” updates.

Well, Nintendo has released a new update just a bit ago. Once you update, the Switch’s firmware should now be at version 17.0.1. As for the official patch notes, it’s another small one with no additions at all. In fact, all Nintendo says is that they “resolved an issue with local communication for some software” and that the update contains “general system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience”.

    1. Yeah I think its long overdue to have another big Switch update. So, I think its time. But, I really don’t understand why Nintendo keep doing stability updates. I get that its important, but I still don’t understand why Nintendo do this.

  1. I wish they’d release an update where your family of switch devices could download and play games without the requirement of being online.
I get they don’t want people to buy one game and have 3 other people all play the same game for free without having to buy it themselves but if I bought physical games, I’d be able to
Give my some one cart while I played another and there would be no issue. Right now, if my device(main) is online at the same time my son’s device is(secondary), then he doesn’t have access to any of my library. So it renders it
Almost useless unless I’m in airplane mode

    1. A work around (though it only works for games isn’t an online only game) start your first game (the one with offline, weather it’s him or you) then go into airplane mode on the first switch. Then have the 2nd switch start the game under the same account unfortunately. But at least both will be able to play.

    2. So why are you online? Just put it in airplane mode, it preserves the battery significantly. Only the second switch should be online to be able to play the games

    3. I go around that by just starting a game on Switch 1, turn on Airplane mode then have the other person get on Switch 2.

  2. I wish they would release an update that where I don’t have to connect online to play the games I bought and downloaded from their servers to my system!!!

I wish they would release an update mandating 3rd party warez that are listed on the packaging HAVE TO BE INCLUDED IN THE BOX, WORKING DAY 0 (without a day 1 patch), without making 90% of same packaged game(s) are on the gamecard [Looking at you MGS Vol 1]

  3. I playing snooker 19 after so much update software still show software was closed cause error occurred! What the hack this game I reinstall many times restart console many times still the SAME very frustrating
