The Pokemon Company has confirmed this evening that the Pokemon TV app will be retired as of 28th March, 2024. A reason wasn’t given for the sunsetting of the app, which hosted a variety of classic animated Pokemon series episodes, and it is unclear whether there will be a replacement in the future. The Pokemon TV app was available on a variety of platforms such as Apple TV and Fire TV etc.

How sad. I never even used the App on my Switch.
Well that sucks. It is the go to app for everything Pokemon. I wonder why.
Yeah like most the of the episodes for each series is on there I hope this doesn’t mean horizons killed it despite it being exclusive to Netflix at the moment.
Throughout the day I’ve been hearing that it most likely has to do with TPC reaching new distribution deals with other streaming platforms. If that’s the case, I hope they aren’t split into too many platforms. It would suck to have to subscribe to multiple ones just to rewatch some seasons, if that’s even true that is. Ugh.
I think at that point it’d be easier to just buy DVD’s of the seasons, assuming they still make those.
It’s an investment, but the entire series so far, 25 seasons, go for about $250-$300 on eBay. I might pickup the first 6 seasons myself, which are the ones I rewatch every now and then.
That’s pretty dumb. But in my experience the app (at least on the Switch) is pretty bad anyway. I doubt they’ll replace it with something better, but who knows?
The fact, that what was on the App got rotated, instead of just allowing to watch it all, and the fact that you weren‘t allowed to just watch the Japanese version with Subtitles killed the App for me anyway. Give me a proper way to watch the show subbed, and I‘ll be a happy camper.
